Sorry for stopping by late. I don't even have a good reason. It is nice seeing all the conversations and the projects happening. Hopefully the new site has not been too much to learn for the new folks, we are glad you are here and please ask anyone else left out in the cold to come on in, the coffee is stale, the talk is all about toys and the donuts hard as a rock. What more could a train modeler ask for!!

have aq great day.

Evening everyone

I just got an email from Roland.  I meant to call him today but got busy.

Told him the RR line was closed for good and gave him the web address for here.

Waiting to hear back from him and told him we are all waiting for him to show up.
I'll call him tomorrow for sure to make sure he comes on over.

While i'm here might as well open the bar.  The whiskey and bourbon & scotch are out.
Cold brews and sodas in the fridge.

It's just 30 here but I got the fire going so it's warm in here.
If your around stop on by to chat for a while.

Enjoy the evening!!  :)

Thanks Jerry I'll join in for the nightcap. I'll take something diet and caffeine free from the frig.

I have the popcorn shaker out and have the fireplace roaring. Need to rid the lounge of the damp!

Taking a short break tonight from creating tree branches for a weeping/trembling Aspen build project I have started. I have the tree trunks cut and stained. I should have waited on the stain until after I drilled the holes in the trunk for the branches

Enjoy the evening

Howdy fellas; nice fire Tom.  Thought I'd poke my head in on the way to the house.

Thanx for the refreshments Jerry.....think I'll have a bourbon & 7.

I hope Roland finds his way here given all the cold and snow.

Tom, I love to see the way peoples' trees come out. Will you be posting some shots soon?

On a different topic....does anybody know if it matters what type rating I use in purchasing 2" 4x8 pink insulation board for the G&D Ry.??? The NGX F250 is $59.97per sheet, the Foamular F150 (same size & thichness) is $55.97.  I know it's not much, but with current economic issues being what they are (eggs $5-$9/dz.) every penny counts.

I like this site; with the aroma of stale coffee and 'plaster donuts' filling the air.  "It smells like......model railroading"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ya'll have a great evening.
Thanx again................

Good morning crew,

Coffee and drinks are on the counter.  Breakfast is Bauernfruhstuck (a hearty farmer's  breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashed potatoes, onions, and cheddar cheese) and ham.  For lighter fare there is cereal and milk.

TomACL, congrats on the good cardiologist visit. Muscle memory will return on the lanes.

Philip, the headlight looks like a great print.

Larry, thanks for the info about your computer.

Kyle, the new layout design looks terrific.  I don't think the foam rating matters to modelers.

Dave, we'll run the flag up.

Jim, you are never too late in Geezers.

Jerry, thanks for reaching out to Roland.

TomO, congrats on the tree project.  Did you post photos?

What is the rest of the crew up to?

It's a mild morning at 56F rising to 72F later today with a few clouds.

Finishing touches on Nowlin's continues and will likely end today.  Photos to be posted later.

Have fun,
mike

My current build is the Water Tower and miscellaneous rolling stock .

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Mike.

I was driving down to Jensen Beach this morning but Pam came down with some kind of flu bug, not covid though. I may drive down alone or go another day.

So, not sure what my plans are for today. I'll call my cousin around 8:30 this morning.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

Good Morning,

Wow Mike you're up early. Thanks for the coffee and a delicious breakfast.
Have fun finishing up Nolan's.

Jerry that's good news hearing from Roland; hopefully he makes it over.
If you do call him let him know about the pics I have and maybe mention
he could just pick here where he left off there; 114 pages is way too much
to try and duplicate.....thanks.

Tom hope you feel better soon; take it easy.

Curt hope the repairs goes well and have fun with the kit. I added another chapter
to my blog last night; forgot to mention it earlier.

What's your plans for the day?

It's 22 with a high of 39 in New York. Have a "sloppy mess" forecasted with another
1-3 of white crap today. Have a "honey due" list today as we are having company Saturday.
Did work on more detail for the Tractor Repair yesterday but not sure if the bench is
in the forecast for today.

Have a great day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Mike. I'll have the cereal please. I look forward to your pictures.

Started out the day with a walk at 65F and feeling cool. I just finished moving furniture and refrigerator for today's drywall work. It's been a VERY long time coming. They are supposed to be here between 8-9. Fingers crossed.

Yesterday I put together the tipple house and mounted it on the bents. That turned out to be a bit more finicky than I thought it would be. The last thing I did was paint and check alignment of the 4 roof supports. Next up is putting wood siding (boards) on them and then attaching them to the tipple house and bents.

Tom I hope Pam feels better soon. Safe travels when you head to Jensen Beach.

Larry I hope you can make it to the workbench.

I hope everyone has a good day.

I'm avoiding the drive to work today due to Vertigo.
Might get some hobby time in when the world stops spinning.

Good morning Mike, ACLTom, Larry, Curt, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Mike, looking forward to the completed photo's of Nowlin's.

Jerry, glad you got in touch with Roland, hopefully we will see him soon.

Tom, hope Pam gets better soon.

Larry, enjoy your day.

Curt, Sounds like great progress is being made on the tipple.

Dave, hope the vertigo doesn't last.

Kyle, It doesn't matter what foam you use on the layout.  The different numbers are usually different manufacturers and or R values.

Currently -12c (10f), overcast with white stuff in the forecast today, might have to leave work early, will be playing it by ear.  The plan last night was to paint the bridge, but then say that the spray paint booth was turned into a storage shelf. :o   Spent some time cleaning it up and putting stuff away.  Apparently I have 2 1:48 scale Mosquitos and a 1:48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 to build one day.  Hopefully tonight I will get the bridge painted.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Palm Springs weather: Sunny, with a high near 73.

Mike, thanks for the coffee and hearty breakfast.
Scenery on Nowlin's is looking good.

Ron, get home safely and when was the last time you built a plane model?

Dave, hope you're feeling better.

Curt, hope the drywall gets finished today.

Larry, be careful on the roads if you have to go out.

ACLTom, hope Pam feels much better soon and have fun with whatever you end up doing.

Kyle, get the cheaper one.

TomO, how's the tree making going?
Are the caffeine withdrawal symptoms done with?

Jerry, how are you feeling?
Thanks for getting bin touch with Roland and hope he shows up soon.

Jim, nice to see you here and stop in whenever you can.

Philip, how'd the print turn out?

Karl, how's the tunneling going?

Greg, Terry and everyone else looking in good morning.

So nice to see how busy the lounge is.
Walked a mile to the trailhead yesterday and saw that does aren't allowed.  :-\
Walked back to the van.
Still a nice 2.5 mile walk.
Todays plan is to hit the gym then drive to the west side of Palm Springs.
Had a coyote visit last night around 1AM
Heard him howl and got to look out side to see if I could see him.
I turned on the awning lights and that must of scared him off.

A scene from yesterdays walk.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from a very iced over So. Central Wisconsin. 27f degrees now 38 later but in the meantime there is about a 1/4" of glazing on everything outside. Opened the garage door to spread the ice melt just in the center of the driveway and then proceeded to safe guard the dog walkers. Using the spreader on the sidewalk took maybe 5 minutes. Just the second time this season I have had to use the ice melt. I wish I had a security camera pointing to the stop sign on the corner. Seems I have neighbors that think icy streets should be ignored and regular speeds are ok. While watching 2 SUV's couldn't stop and hit the curb going sideways. We are at a "T" intersection

Kyle and others! Yes I will post pictures of the Weeping Aspens when they are done. Hopefully some will be 100% next week.

The pink or blue foam or the 150 vs 250 formula does not matter for model train layouts. Just do not use green florist foam for support but it does make for easy scenic formations

It's a train room day with no need till dinner time to venture out. Dinner and then a musical after!

Rick, Terry isn't sure if her morning headaches are caffeine withdrawal induced or from her pain meds wearing off. She is down to 2 cups a day. At wake-up and mid afternoon.

Enjoy the day

270 "Feels Colder" it says down in the corner of the screen  :o  No freezing rain, just some light snow as far as I can tell.  Went for a haircut yesterday, price up there :-[ , just going to get it cut shorter, less often.  The price increase is eating into the tip. Once back home I got hooked into a book and did little else but read after that.

Rick asked:"Karl, how's the tunneling going?"  Boring... :o

Back to the layout after morning routine.  Need some energy.  Drill baby drill.... ;)

Later all!
