Mike great job on the bridge piers, like the coloring, as well as the bridge base. All those NBW's and holes
to be drilled; that definitely screams sore back. Keep 'er going it's looking great.

Mike,

Your bridge is looking good.  I like the stain you're using.  The wood has a nice aged appearance.

Mike

Philip

That confounded bridge is coming along nicely. ;)

Howdy folks,

Jerry, Dave, Larry, Mike, and Philip, thank you for your comments. I appreciate you following along.

The 88 holes I drilled needed to be chased because the stain had shrunk them.  It wasn't as tedious as the first go round, but it was annoying to repeat work.  The tie rods and collision beams are installed.  The cross braces were stained today, and will be ready to cut to size tomorrow (I hope).  Since the bridge chords may have moved a bit from the plan, the vendor advises cutting each diagonal brace to fit versus using the plan.

I have to say that the wood in the kit is exceptional in quality, with no blemishes, warps, or twists. It makes building the kit so much more fun.

Here are the chords after gluing together.

Tie rods (22) and collision braces are in place and ready for the cross braces to be installed.

That's it for today.

Have fun,
mike

Getting a truss done is a big sense of accomplishment!  All you need now is the cross-bracing, but take your time and make sure the joints are tight.

Howdy folks,

Rick, Dave, Philip, Curt, Larry, and Jerry, I certainly do appreciate your comments and guidance.  This morning and early afternoon were consumed by the Masonic Lodge's Annual Car Show for the Georgia Children's Home.  Cool cars, in spite of cloudy skies.  Here is a photo of my favorite, a 1921 Model T converted for transporting passengers from the Atlanta Train Station to a local hotel. I see one of these in my building future...

This afternoon, I began adding bracing.  Handy tools were my NWSL wide chopper and True Sander.  Here is the bridge with all the cross bracing stained and ready to cut.

Here is a start on one of the chords.  I ran out of gas thirty minutes ago, so more tedious brace fitting will occur tomorrow.

Mike, hope you're able to add one of those Model T's to the layout.
Excellent job of cutting those angles and getting a tight fit.

Jerry

Mike nice car.

Outstanding cutting and fitting on that bridge.
