Howdy folks,

Gary, Dave B, Philip, Larry, and Rick, thank you for your kind comments and encouragement.

Gary, thanks for the tip.  I've used that same wax in my woodshop, so I bet I have a ring in the garage.

Well, the wheels are done minus weathering.  The glue needs to dry for a day before I go brushing on them.  I think most rivet counters will be happy with the work.

Mounting the wheels and constructing the walking beam are next.

There are rivets on both sides of the wheels.  :o

Have fun,

So that doubles the rivet count!

The wheels look great  The grain on the wheels really adds texture to the model.

Outstanding job Mike. I also noticed that the rivets are equally spaced on the wheels which is a skill of it's own.

Howdy folks,

After working on the wheels for a week or so, I finally have photos of the assembled pulley and wheel components, including bull wheels, banding wheels, sand reel, sand reel friction pulley, walking beam, pitman arm, etc.

All put together

Sand reel, sand friction reel, and band wheel

Walking beam, pitman arm, and drill/pump hook

Bull wheels and pulley

All together with derrick removed

Next will be the braking mechanism on the bull wheels and the hand brake.

Have fun,
mike

Very impressive work.  Wheels look fantastic, as does the whole derrick.

Outstanding modeling Mike. I bet the assembly was very fiddly.
