Howdy folks,

I finally made it upstairs to work on the engine shed.  Finishing the windows was the first item on the hobby list, followed by painting the details.

The windows are made from acetate sandwiched between two laser-cut mullions and frames.  The top section extends outward and is held in place by a simple pushrod. The window panes were dirtied by dusting them with pigments, then rubbing them with my finger.

Alas, details!  I have more to print and paint, but these will get me started.

Have fun,
mike

Howdy,

Philip, Curt, Jerry, Rick, and Larry, thank you for your encouragement.  I do appreciate it.

Windows installed.

Windows installed on the opposite side of the shed.

Front shed door installed.

I'm still working on the roof weathering.  I'm not quite happy with the overall look of the roof. I'm having a problem with the paint chipping on the roof.  Before painting the corrugated sheets, I washed them in the ultrasonic cleaner, primed them, and painted.  I used to bathe them in vinegar, but didn't do that this time. I used an acrylic primer, but wished I had used good old automobile primer.  I have a lot of corrugated steel sheets, but I think I prefer to work with the paper variants.

Next up will be adding lighting, fixing the engine shed structures to the base, and adding the awning between the structures...  Oh, and painting details.

Have fun,
mike

I like the brown windows.  They mesh well with the stone, looking 'appropriate'

Rick

Mike, I agree with Dave, the brown windows look good with the stones.
How'd you dirty the windows?

robert goslin

Great looking windows Mike.
Really nice touch with how you have dirtied up the perimeter of each pane.
Very realistic.
