Thanx Dave, thanx MJinTN, thanx Larry C*, and thanx Mike;

I really like this part of the hobby, the fantastic interaction with ya'll, and all the great suggestions and ideas, all the very kind and insightful comments;  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;) it makes it all seem somehow more important than just a hobby ;)  8) ...............

Yesterday (Sunday) I started on the last bit of trackwork :o  :o......the spur leading to the "I ME MINE" ;D ...I decided to install hand laid instead of using the scraps of ME...even though the only rail I have enough of is code 100 ::) ..I felt like it might be a little too heavy for a spur ::)  ::)  ::) ...but what the hell, I have plenty, and the fewer joints to solder the better ;D  ;D  ;D  ;) ........besides "IT'S MY RR" >:(  >:(  >:(  ;D  ;) ........

So I got busy and completed the first section and temporarily installed it-just to have a look ???  :o  ;D ; I think it'll look just fine :)  :) today (Monday) I hope to finish building the 2 remaining sections and begin inslalling it all permanetly...................

Here's the shots of the work........

006.JPG

Hope they look OK :) ....I'll post some shots of the way I kept the 2 sides of the N scale roadbed together while I glued the ties down and spiked the rails.... :o  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)....I used N scale because I wanted the lowest profile roadbed since I couldn't install the ties and rails directly on the pink foam :o  :o too much downward pressure would ruin the grade- :o ...so why chance it?? ;)  ;)  ;)  ;) I think it came out OK, there's still dirt and ballast to come...........thanx again for stoppin in ;D  ;D ......ya'll stay tuned.....see ya...

OK-...here's my process.... ???  ::)  ;D  ;D  ;D

First...I cut some 1" wide strips of paper towels...........then I glue them to the roadbed with 3M77 spray
001.JPG    011.JPG
On the first one I put a strip of 'blue painters tape' over the paper towels, to make sure they 'stayed together' during the 'ties & rails' part of the process.. ;)  ;)....I must've done OK... :o 'cause I don't think I'll need the blue tape on the rest ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)....they dried quite well and are very secure, yet flexible ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D ...............so I went ahead and finished the last 2 of the three I need......This one is the first one, the one with tape..........................
003.JPG

All that's left for the other 2 is 'ties 'n rails' ;D  ;D  ;) ......I'll post some shots of the project once all the trackage is in and functioning :)  :)  :)  ;) .......all I've got for now..... ;D .....see ya.... 8)  8)  8)  8)  8)

Love the spur going around the rock face. The last photo looks like the track is right on the edge of the benchwork. If that is the case I would caution you about derails and falling to the floor.

Thanx Larry C*, thanx Jerry, and thanx Mike;

Well it's already Thursday, :o and I have no idea where the week went... ???  ::) ....it was here just a minute ago, ??? ....and then it wasn't :o ......I got up this morning, did my prayers and scripture, and then decided to fabricate and install (temporarily) the next section of hand laid trackage on the grade up to the "I Me Mine"...to check for alignment and grade compatability (is it smooth enough the higher up you go)....I wasn't sure how it would work because I 'carved' the grade out of pink foam and only checked it for evenness....not for how it would work with trackage on it :o  :o  ::) .......I think it'll be OK ;D  ;D .......here's some shots.......whadda ya think ???  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D .....all for now ....thanx again for all the support and ideas.......come on back anytime............see ya........ 8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)

Howdy Kyle,

Good start to the day.  The trackwork looks terrific.  I'm sure even Bubbles approves.  What are you going to use for ballast?  I've been curious.  Nice work on your beautiful layout.

Have fun,
mike

Just wondering if Bubbles was an ASPCA rescue? Or bequeathed house pet from your great great great grandmother?

Either way, Bubbles looks right at home!
