Howdy Kyle,

You are lucky to have so many hobby shops nearby. The only good hobby shop south of Atlanta closed.

The layout diagram looks like a lot of fun to build.

Have fun,
mike

Thanx Larry C*, thanx Mike, and thanx Michael;....and thanx to all those who grabbed a little peek at what's been happening @ the G&D Ry.

Today (Monday) I finished plotting and positioning all the trackage.... ;D ...as is ALWAYS the case  :o there were some adjustments that had to be made;  ??? ...but surprisingly ...the end result was extremely close to the scale drawing.. ;D  ;D  ;) .....I might even add a 3-way turnout in place of the turnout that leads to the 2 stall engine shed so I can have one more (rather short) (about 10 - 12 inches) locomotive track that would be on the side closest to the backdrop....perfect for the 2-6-0.... ;)  ;) maybe.....I'll think about it... ::)  ::) .....

Here's what I got done today.....................

Now from the other end...........................
005.JPG  006.JPG

I've gotten alot done today, but I have sooo much more to go .. ::)  ::)  ;D  ;) ...it'll be soo much fun though  ;D  ;D ...and then I can start on adding the loop and sidings at Dilapidated   :o  :o  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;) .....enough stuff to last till a bit past Valentines' Day I figure.... ;D  ;D  ;D ya'll stay tuned ...to quote GUNSMOKES' FESTUS HAGEN...."It's a GOODER, Mathew" :o  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;) ....see ya.... 8)  8)  8)  8)

Kyle, great overhaul.  I loved the other layout, but this one holds great promise.  I like it.  Have fun, mike

kyle creel

Thanx Phillip, thanx Curt, thanx Larry C*., thanx Jerry, and thanx Mike.... ;D  ;D  ;D

I'm really having fun with the 'overhaul' Mike;  ;D ...and.....

Nice photo Phillip......do you think Ol' Festus might have been tryin' to get just a little smootchie smootchie off Miss Kitty ...behind Matthews' back?.. :o  :o  :o  :o  ::)  ;)  ;)  ;D  ;D  ;D .........

And thanx for remarking on the progress ...Larry C.*, Curt and Jerry... ;)  ;)  ;)  ;D ....sometimes it doesn't seem like much... but just a tweek here or there can take hours to figure out if it'll help... or screw up something else  :o  :o  >:(  >:(  ;D  ;)....

Today (Friday) while waiting for our 3-4 day FREE SIBERIAN WINTER TRIAL OFFER to arrive...  >:(  >:(  :o ... I worked in a third locomotive track on the back side of the roundhouse.. ;) ...I moved the left hand turnout comming off the 90 degree crossing closer to the crossing and swapped it for a slightly shorter one, and added a short Peco right hand one so it's coming off the straight track of the left hand one....it gave me just enough room for the 2-6-0... ;D  ;D  ;) ......I also added a siding and spotted Scavenger Inc. in  its' new home; and Tooter Phuknuts' Tractor Repair Shope in its' new location.... ;D  ;D  ;) .......

I'm really happy and relieved that the changes have gone smoothly..... ;D  ;D ...I pondered over the whole idea for about 3 months before even considering jumping in to see how deep and cold the water was  :o  :o  ;D ...

Next up is laying the track... :o ....I'll probably use my black sharpie to 'outline' everything... ;) ...the one thing that's been a pleasant surprise  ;D ..is the scale trackplan is damn near exactly 'on' when it comes to placements and clearances.... ;D ...I guess it helps to make subtle changes in the drawing as one goes about laying out the pieces of track for a 'test fit', that way I have really accurate map to go by when the 'real' track laying begins.... ;D  ;D  ;) ....here's some shots of the progress/changes....and the modified track plan.... :)  :)  :) hope they make sense.......

Here's the added locomotive track........

Howdy Kyle,

Good to see you are enjoying the fine-tuning of the layout.  It looks terrific.  Hope the weather provide you with lots of time to push on with the build.

Have fun,

Thanx Mike, and thanx Phillip;  also a shout out to everybody that just grabbed a look-see... ;D  ;D  ;D thanx again....

"Tooters'", I just couldn't help myself Phillip........... ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)

OK, today (Wednesday) is the first day I've spent any real time on the layout :o  :o ...today we finished our "Free 4 Day Trial of SIBERIAN Winter" :o  :o  >:(  >:(  >:( ...it was cold as shit (for Texas).... :o  >:(  at night we hit 14, 8, 12, and 15 degree air temps  >:(  >:( ...during the day it was about 18-25  :o  :o  but last night it was only 22  ;)  ;) ...where's my swim suit ;D  ;D  ;D  >:(  >:(  >:( ...the wind chills were in the minus 8 to minus 5 range....and we still have ice all over the f&$king place >:(  >:(  >:(  ;D ....We were a total of 79 hours below freezing consecutively  ;D  ;D  ;D but that didn't even come close to the record from back in 1983..... remember that one Mike?? ...295 hours ....12 days and nights straight....IN TEXAS... :o  :o  :o  >:(  >:( ....Oh well it's gonna be in the 60's late next week ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)

F-YOU OLD MAN WINTER !!!!!!!... ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Back to the layout  ;D  ;D ...I built and tested (with rolling stock) the std. gauge/On30 crossing today... :o  :o ....It worked great  ;)  ;) .... I had been dreading building it for a couple of weeks ???  ??? ..but just got up,... saw the sun  ;D  ;D and said "F-it;.. GO FOR IT  >:(  >:(  ;D  ;) ...it was a little more frustrating than I'd expected, but not really that much more difficult...the std. gauge is all 'dead rail'  ;)  ;) ....Next I've got to decide whether to use Atlas sectional track for the loop, or to hand lay it  ::)  ::) ...I know I'll have to use the sectional track in Dilapidated...because the track in laid directly on the cork I put down...... ::)  ::) ...so I guess if I don't want to go out and buy a bunch of code 100 18" radius Atlas sectional track (maybe I could find it at Angelos' Trains) ..back in his 'Garage sale purchased' stock ....that's where I picked up the cheap-o 90 degree crossings.. ;D  ;D  ;D ....I'll think on it a little more this evening  ;D  ;D ...and decide tomorrow (Thursday)  ;) .

Here's some shots of the crossing I did earlier today......hope they give a good representation of the thing... :o  :o  ;) ........

That's all for now ...thanx again for stoppin' by....I've also got to make time to check out everybody elses' fine work that's going on around here...I've been remiss in that regard :(  :( ...I always enjoy and get inspiration from ya'lls efforts  :)  ;) ....stop by when the mood strikes...see ya.... 8)  8)  8)  8)

P.S.  I know most of ya'll are having a terrible winter also...much worse than what we've had, please stay safe and warm... ;)

GOD BLESS.......

Interesting!  So you did the crossing with NO frogs...   That makes it a lot easier than doing 4 different frogs.
