Kyle,

You've come up with the solution to where to put the reversing loop.

Thanx Mike, thanx Jerry, thanx Larry C*, thanx Phillip, thanx Michael, and thanx Greg..... ;D  ;D  ;D

I've had this thought eating away at me since I decided to add the reversing loops  ::)  ::)  ::) ...my first idea when I began was just put the loop in place of the TT in front of the roundhouse  ;D  ;D ...but it wouldn't fit there ... >:(  >:(  the bump out was too close to the doorway... >:(  >:( .....so I moved the loop and crossing further out PAST where the TT had been  ;D ...and all was well.... ;D ....except for the notion that I didn't even measure to see if I could leave the TT and just add the loop..... also - I didn't consider that the Durango & Silverton has both a TT and a balloon track to reverse complete trains  :o  :o  >:(  >:(  >:(  :o  :o  :o I just PLOWED ahead with the project, all the while thinking I had it all worked out  ;)  ;) .......about that time I realized one very important thing.... :o  :o ....it's a very involved process to pull a locomotive into the roundhouse head first after backing all the cars into the yard or depot  :o  :o  :o  >:(  >:(  >:( ....one must traverse the loop again and hope there's no cars or coaches in front of the depot.....shit!!!!  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:( ......SO I FIXED IT  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)  ;) .....I added the TT back in it's original spot, shifted the main line approach-crossing track to line up with the center of the TT at the 90 degree crossing and put back all the other trackage and sidings... ;D  ;D  ;D ...it works fabulously  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D ......I can't believe I didn't do it this way in the beginning.. ::)  ::)  >:(  >:(  >:( ....oh well - all's well that ends well  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;) ...here's the (you guessed it) new track plan and photos..... ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D .......let us resume charging the enemies lines  >:( .. :o  :o  :o  :o .. ::)  ::) .........I know the bridge track doesn't align with either of the round house tracks when in the approach/enter position... :o ...but that's OK ...I just rotate it a smidge to pull into the closest stall  ;D  ;D  ;D .......thanx again for stoppin' by, ya'll stay tuned ...I promise I'm going to get Grizzly done and move on to Dilapidated...... ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;) .....see ya.......... 8)  8)  8)  8)

P.S. I forgot to remove the freight lifting crane from the roof of the roundhouse where I stashed it while I was working on everything...and I'm too lazy to do it now and reshoot the shots....... :o  :o  >:(  >:(  >:(  ;D ................. 8)

Thanx Larry C*., thanx Phillip, and thanx Jerry;

I knocked my one and only scratch/bashed locomotive to the floor and it's a 'goner'  :(  :(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:( ....I had just finished changing out the decoder last month, easy peasy- just unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one ....one old TCS for a new TCS ....done !!... and it ran great.....Then the other day I was fiddling around with some bldgs. in Dilapidated... :o  :o , and there goes the elbow ??? WHOOSH >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:( right off the edge,  >:(  >:( 55" down to the floor...I got down off the short step ladder and gazed upon the disaster ???  :(  >:(  >:(  >:( ....

For me, it was a special piece of equipment 'cause I'd never built any project like it (a locomotive) before....it would become an oil fired 2-8-0, cobbled together from a Bachmann On30 2-6-0 boiler, and an old HO Intermountain?  2-8-4 drive train, I built the Vanderbilt tender especially for it along with a custom cab, backup light and weathered it with only a brush and acrylics... ;) ...now it's gone :'(  :'( ...oh well that's the way the cookie crumbles.....I can't remember where all the broken wires go, and don't really have the will to take on such a project...... ???  ??? ... so I put it back in its' box with foam inserts, and put it away...out of sight-out of mind :(  :(  >:(  >:( .......

Here's what she looks like now,

Kyle sorry to hear about the mishap but glad you're moving on. I once had finished a scratch build maybe a few weeks before. Decided to clean off my bench and placed it on the chair behind me. When finished you'll never guess what my butt kissed.....yup sat smack dab on the build and instantly turned it into toothpicks.

OUCH... :o  :o  :o  :o I hate it when I'm so busy that I don't pay attention to the warnings in my head.... >:(  >:(  >:( I knew when I moved the locomotive to the edge track in order to reach a bldg. behind the tracks where it had been sitting DON'T DO THAT !!!!! :o  :o  :o  >:(  >:(  >:( .....

Did you have the same thoughts ????? Maybe it could become a structure being demolished ??  :o ......you have my deepest condolences.....your work is so very beautiful, and I know the effort and care you put into each one, 'cause it shows so brightly  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;) .........thanx for the kind words  :) .......see ya......... 8)  8)  8)  8)

Yup, I had the same thought only AFTER I sat on it!! I salvaged what was reusable and the rest of it ended up in the fire pit; at least it was good for something. Lol.

Kyle, put it away, mourn a bit, then go back and work on other things.  Maybe you'll be tempted to resurrect this project later on.
