Thank you, Curt.  ~mike

Howdy folks,

While I hope to devote most of my time to the layout, I still want something going at the bench.  I decided on an easy kit that is more about painting than assembly.  It's the 20' Scrap Car by Morgan Hill Models.

Here is Morgan Hill's photo of a completed car:

I snapped a quick photo of the kit laid out.

The most complicated component will be the Tichy jib crane.  I plan to use the Bolder Models trucks (HO side frames with 18" On30 wheels).

Have fun,

A dandy lil kit!

Scenery tend to take away from the fun stuff! Building!

Hello Mike, I'm just now making a comment on your stock car- nice job, by the way. Very realistic looking weathering. And you're already moved on to your next build. The scrap car with the jib crane looks like it will be a fun little build.

Mike, I know you'll do a great job on this kit too.

Howdy folks,

Curt, Philip, Jeff, and Rick, thank you for following the thread and making the process enjoyable.

Today I painted the frame and details after the glue for the weights dried.  I used a dark brown color.  The car frame sides will get a boxcar red color.  I may add stirrups, but I'm not sure about that yet.

After I trim the car in boxcar red, I'll add the wooden decking.

Have fun,
mike

Mike,

This looks like a great project and I'm sure you will do it justice.
I've got about 100 of these cars to build & paint in HO, guess I'd
better get cracken! Lol   ;)

Howdy folks,

Curt, Jerry, Larry, Rich, and Larry, thank you for following along and sharing kind words.

Rich, 100?  I guess you won't have free time in the coming years.  ;)

Today, I finished painting the details for the scrap car, except for the steel barrel.  It's still in the paint shop.  The junk box is 1.5" X 2".

The flat car is ready for decals and assembly.  The trucks are constructed but still need detailed painting and weathering.

Now, back to the layout and a bit of Sculptamold.

Have fun,
mike

Mike, that is exactly what I would expect a box of junk to look like.
That barrel is top notch too.
