The more I see of these kits the more I like them.

Howdy folks,

Curt, Larry, Jerry, and Rick, thanks for your comments.

This photo shows the components of the sides.  The sides are three layers sandwiched together.  They were easy to assemble.

Here are the finished walls. Research on the interiors of vintage boxcars revealed extensive damage to the sideboards, so I added scrapes and punctures before staining.

Finally, the walls and ends are ready for assembly.  This photo depicts the boxcar's interior and exterior.

My finishing plans for the boxcar are to make it an old, worn-out boxcar on its last legs.  I'll use Peter Pool's technique as used on previous structures and rolling stock.

Have fun,
mike

Mike, Howdy,

Excellent little combine. The color fits the size and is complimented with the white decal.

I'm sure the boxcar will be just excellent as well.

Mike,

Boxcar is looking great, construction techniques seem to be similar to the four Mount Blue boxcars I completed recently.

While not a shake-in-the-box kit, the final result is well worth the effort.

Howdy folks,

Tom, Philip, and Ron, thank you for your kind words.

I assembled the body and added purlins and roof supports.

Next, I'll attach the roof.  When the car weights I ordered arrive, the frame will be attached to the car body.  I still need to add truss rods, couplers, and trucks.

Have fun,
mike

The nice thing about that kit is how closely it follows prototype car construction.  Is that originally a Dave Mason design?

Howdy Ron, indeed, the construction is similar.  Mount Blue adds details in its kits that are not normally included, e.g., locks.  I like these kits and will probably buy more.  They fit together well, keep me from making dumb mistakes, mostly.  ;D  Have fun, mike
