Last week I visited the California State Railroad Museum.
One of the volunteers gave me a great tour of a post office and described the working conditions which I thought were interesting and surprising.

Years ago I got the "Mail By Rail" book  (Simmons-Boardman 1951, by Long & Dennis). I've found it an excellent reference for the Railway Mail Service up to its publication date.  I may have time to watch the video later, but bills await.

Greg, thanks for watching.
I got lucky with the timing getting into that car and the volunteer having time to go into detail about what went on in there.
I was surprised by a few of the things he said.

My dad worked in one of those on the Monon. My two older brothers did a ride along one trip from Louisville to Chicago. The bill of lading had puppies. They were loose, scampering around the RPO free. Great story!
