Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, english muffins, yogurt, OJ and soda.

Starting slow today with just coffee, in a bit I'll get my usual bowl of raisin bran. Well..the next several mornings are supposed to be in the 60's. ;D  As the weather guesses said, it's the first time in 144 days.

The door assembly went like it should have the first time around! Now it's on to some wall white metal castings and 3D printed details.

Rick I relooked at your photo with Star and I think it's the best one yet of you two.

Larry great new chapter. Worth the wait.

I lucked out and don't have to go to this Saturday's skunk event since daughter decided to go, but I have to go the last 2 Oct Saturday's.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning sun? will yield to a fair chance of some rain today here in MI. Temps starting in the 30s ;D -chattering teeth- a hazy look to the grass out the window hints at some frost having visited us, again.

PT was a bit strenuous yesterday, but I survived.

I went out for a new drive belt for the mower deck, $120 and then a breaker bar to manipulate the spring loaded idler pulley.  I'll give the job a shot the next day or so.  No mowing planned with rain today.  Might the layout or workbench get a visit? I haven't been informed yet.  ;)

Nice photo, Rick, of Star and her friend.... :D  You've visited some picturesque scenes in your travels.

Be well all, enjoy the football and other sports this weekend.

Good morning everyone.

Bend weather: Showers likely, mainly after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 58.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Maybe you'll go to Tom's on Saturday now?

Karl, good luck with the mower fix.
"You've visited some picturesque scenes in your travels." Hopefully there will be many more.

Mike, how's the new modeling project coming along?

Jerry, what's new?

Ron, hope the honey-do list is quick and easy.

James, did you go to the seashore?

How's the rest of the crew doing?

Thank you for the nice comments on yesterday's photo.

Did the hike around Paulina Lake yesterday with Star and my friend Whit.
Today it's time to leave bend and keep heading south.
But before that stops at Walmart, Costco and the gym will be made.
Whit and I have made some exciting plans for hiking next year.

Mt. Hood while hiking the Oak Ridge Trail in Oregon.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Ya lucked out on the skunk detail; I think I hear the train room calling you instead. Glad you liked the chapter but there's a bigger surprise coming.

Karl hope you get the mower sorted out; the belt must be made of at least bronze for that $$. Hope you make it to the bench.

Rick beautiful photo. Heading south sounds like a great plan; safe travels.

What's happening in your world.

It's a sunny but crisp morning @ 30 with a high of 54 in New York. The frost killed off the summer flowers, thank goodness, so those will get pulled later today and put on the compost pile. The mums were under cover so those will be fine. A trip to Wegmans for an Rx and some assorted goodies. Bench time????

Have a great day. Be well and stay warm.

Good morning Curt, Karl, Rick, Larry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt.  Sounds like you have some time for yourself in the very near future.

Karl, any day surviving PT is a wen, good luck with the mower belt.

Rick, sounds like a busy day loading up for supplies.

Larry, We got frost last week so all our flowers have already been dispose of, last thing to do this fall is to cut back the rose bushes, which will get done this weekend.

It's a chilly one here with the current temperature being 2c (36f), the high is supposed to get to 14c (58f), there are clouds in the sky today but no rain in the forecast.  Going to work on the honey-do list today and check off a couple of items and then I have some clean-up to do.  I also plan to make it to the bench today.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

Late start for me. Thanks for breakfast Curt.

Rick, the photo of you and Star was very nice.

I slept poorly the last two nights. I figured edging and cutting the grass would help last night, It didn't.

I finished Chapter 13 and started Chapter 14. Taking a break and get more notes together.

Have a safe and happy day everyone.

Good morning crew. Looks like I'm bringing up the rear this am.

That is a great picture of Rick-Star and the latest distance shot is nice. Looks cold tho..

Weather dipped into low 40's overnight.

Yesterday I was cleaning the basement shop and throwing/donating 36 years of accumulated junk that I'll never use. Loading a donation to the local mission. Still scrapped for room.

Today I'm installing a 50ft LAN cable in the basement. Should be a challenge slithering on my belly in the crawl space part. The wireless just isn't reliable in the shop, so hardwiring.

Ordered RTV and resin Monday for the part-time model business. I'm fixing to get hot and resurrect some patterns and molds. Haven't casted anything in almost 3 years.

Thanks for the coffee Curt and have a great day crew!

The coax line I had from the internet entry point in the basement to the home office where the rest of the networking gear sits failed.  I ended up running an ethernet cable outside the house, pulling off the vinyl siding to slip the cable underneath.  So far, so good...

I've been thinking about a casting project, one thing that popped up was this stuff to spray into the bottles for both mold and resin to increase shelf life:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PN45KW2  It puts a layer of argon gas over top of the resin, blocking the air.   Anyone have any experience with stuff like this?

Seasonal temperatures in SE NH, which feels chilly after the summer temps we had earlier this week.  We are likely to get a lot of rain Sunday into next week, which would be A Very Good Thing.  But I feel sorry for those who had plans for the long weekend.  I got some time in the Train Room after the exercise machine, gluing up some framing on the 2nd story of the machine shop that broke loose.  I don't have a lightweight bar clamp long enough for the long length, so I tipped it on its end and put some weight on the other end to hold the joint while the glue cures.  Fingers crossed this makes a good joint, I'll have to do a bit of sanding eventually to get the walls to fit tightly.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thank you for opening, coffee and cereal.  Congrats on door assembly success.

Karl, good luck with the layout visit.

Rick, nice to have a hiking friend.  Wow, already planning next year!

Larry, outdoor duties never end, regardless of the season: spring, summer, fall, or winter.

Ron, good luck with the chores and the trip to the bench.

TomACL, Congratulations on completing another chapter and starting another.

Philip, good luck with the modeling business and cable running.

Jerry, have fun at the bench.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright day forecast for 73°F.  I'm working upstairs, cleaning the workbench in preparation for the next kits.  I have been distracted from designing a building and the livestock car by the arrival of the oil well. Now I know why I didn't scratch build one.  My wife just arrived from a Costco visit, so I need to unload the car.

Have fun,
mike

Good afternoon, all. Rick, yesterday I wasn't any closer to the sea than I normally am, though I crossed bridges over salt water 8 times going to and from Seashore Trolley Museum.  Though Seashore mentions it, the Shore Line Trolley Museum in Branford, CT is the one that actually crosses marsh creeks.

The lower Merrimack valley is long-sleeve weather but I had a number of windows open earlier just the same. No modeling likely today, as I've been working on bills and getting my heat fixed. Hopefully the latter comes true Monday; I have adequate firewood on hand but the teenager hasn't the time away from school to manage heating our house with wood.

Evening all.

A quick update. We're closing Northern Command (aka summer camp) this weekend. I'll be able to get back to modeling and some 1:1 projects at Central Command (aka homebase).

Looking at building a dust collector to keep the dust under control from the woodshop. I'm also looking at installing an inline duct fan to get a negative pressure in the basement to keep the volatile odors down when working with polyurethanes. I'll be getting back at working on the HOn30 quarry line and its associated projects.

That's it for now from a cold 1000 Islands with the sun setting over the river.

Good Morning All,

Breakfast today is coffee, cereal, bagels, english muffins, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Got up this morning to help MOH finish packing up the van before she takes off for the skunk event. At least it's indoors today. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours painting details and that will continue today and these are just the ones for the pattern shop.

Nothing else is planned today except the normal daily chores. I think the next SBG is the first Saturday in November.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Curt and crew! Great hearing from you Bernie!

Thank for the coffee Curt

Looking out I think we got frost, noticed yesterday all the flowers are wilting from the coldness.

The cable drag yesterday was a PIA. Done but sore all over. Jerry hit the nail on the head!
RTV and resin were delivered yesterday.
Dave, I have used countless amounts of resin but never tried the items your speaking of. I have heard it does work but never tried. I usual cast in the fall, into winter and avoid humidity. Shelf life has a lot to do with process and amounts exposed to the elements. I normally use beakers or measuring cups and try to keep the main container sealed. If it's humid I have had resin ruin in several hours. My old resin casting company "Vagabond" had a shelf life of one year, but some lots remained useful for 3 years. Glenmarc bought them out and as of 2025 production has stopped.

Well I'm off to the basement. Organization continues and downsizing this collection of niche junk continues.

Have a great day crew!

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt.

The Judge is coming over to run trains. Other than that nothing is planned here either.
