Good morning Curt, Mike, Karl, Rick, TomO, Larry, Dave D, Dave B, Philip, ACLTom, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, will be looking forward to the next update.

Mike, Hope you make it upstairs this afternoon.

Karl, I've been thinking about learning FreeCad as I have a very funny feeling that Fusion 360 won't be free for much longer.

Rick, Have fun cleaning the van.

TomO, safe travels today and I also hope you start a thread on the scratch built paper mill thread.

Larry, good luck on the car insurance front.

Dave M, Have fun working on the machine shop.

Dave B, Philip, enjoy the day.

TomO, have fun in the train shed today.

Jerry, hope you make it to the bench today.

It's another miserable day here, overcast with white stuff/rain in the forecast all day.  Current temperature is 0c (32f).  I did make it to the workbench for my "15 minutes a day" modeling effort and managed to paint and install the queen posts on the boxcar frame.  Drilling the holes for the queen posts was a piece of cake as I had previous built a jig for that as this is my 6th boxcar/flatcar frame built to date.  Tonight's plan is to install the truss rods.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning;

I love checking in on this group, lots going on. I see Tom L has improved his river scene! Shocking! I need to get down to his place and catch up on his progress, always a fun day.

As for myself I'm about done with second cup of coffee and planning on a third. I started a build thread yesterday on my current project, making a bridge using 3D printing. I am slowly working my way to getting the AP - Stucture certificate from the NMRA. I use the AP program more to keep me moving forward then anything else and I use the build thread to catalog my progress on the AP build. Once completed I print out my postings, staple them to the judge form and I am done. I did this for the Flour Mill I made and seemed to work so I will do it again. I only need two more structures to get the certificate then it is off to making rolling stock I think. So here is a photo of the bridge I am going to make and a photo of where it is going to go on layout. The small buildings located to right are just sitting, not where they will end up.  Have a great day.

BTW - I've created a website where I sell my photography.
Prints, coffee mugs, throw pillows, shower curtains and more can be ordered.
Christmas is coming and some of these items would make a nice stocking stuffer.
I'm just starting to load pictures and I'll add more daily.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. I'll take a look at your site later.

Yesterday was a wasted day for modeling. After chores I started feeling like I was getting ill so I laid down for a couple of hours and felt slightly better. Took some medicine last night and feel better today so far.

This afternoon I'm supposed to take son to the movies at 1:30.

That's it for me.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the breakfast and coffee. Enjoy your walk with Star. Called my Insurance Agent yesterday and I'll have a quote with a new company right after Jan. 1st. It seems my old Company has yet to get authorization from NYS to stop covering folks in New York; but that's their problem. I'll check out your site later.

Curt glad you're feeling better; probably it's the weather down there.

Watch doin today?

It's a rainy 38 with a high of 42. The good news is the sn*w all melted overnight....yippee. Not sure what's going on today; maybe clean the oven for Thanksgiving.

Have a great day!! Be well.

Well, I discovered I was short one door casting, so I dug a replacement out, painted it, and it should be good to go.  I'll touch up/add 'corner spot' glue to the glazing I installed yesterday, and may start actually gluing windows into the walls today.  Next I need to figure what to do about the freight doors.  They're supposed to be on barn door tracks, but I think I want to convert them into double swinging doors, so they don't block light going into the structure.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick. Nice looking website. Yes, I did get stuff done in the train shed but not as much as I wanted. I got side tracked with cleaning up the layout.

Curt, hope you are feeling much better.

Jim D, I think you saw Zane ladies on the river rock, not my layout. Although, I do have something like that planned for the A&S RR.

Today I plan on adding an update to the barn thread and replace a decoder in a brass loco.

Have a safe and warm day everyone.

Good morning Rick, Curt, Larry, Dave, ACLTom and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, enjoy your walk with Star and yes I did get my 15 minutes at the bench in.

Curt, hope you feel 100% soon, enjoy the movie with your son.

Larry, we still have snow here but with the current temperatures, it will most likely be gone by the end of today.

Dave, good luck converting the freight doors.

ACLTom, looking forward to the barn update and good luck with the decoder install.

It's another overcast day with the current temperature of 2c (35f), perfect conditions to get rid of the white stuff. ;D

Spent a little time at the bench last night adding the truss rods to the boxcar frame.  Now the 4 boxcars are at the same stage of construction.  I also updated my boxcar build thread to document the current progress.  WE shall see what tonight brings.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. That breakfast was filling! Enjoy your me time.

Curt, hope you continue to feel better.  Enjoy the movie!

Larry, good luck with the insurance.  That stuff has gotten so high.

Dave, that's a sickening feeling when you come up one part short on a build.  Glad you found a replacement.

TomACL, there is always a distraction in the layout room, and it sounds like a busy day at the bench.

Ron, looking forward to your boxcar builds.  I plan to go to school on them.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning and temperatures are back to normal.  It was 47°F last night, and the forecast is 70°F today. Yesterday was mostly a day of paint and stain drying. Got groceries this morning, mostly for Thanksgiving.  Packed the trunk with stuff for Goodwill and the recycling center.  A haircut is scheduled for later in the afternoon, plus a trip to the bank and to fill up with gas.

The combine and oil derrick base are both ready to assemble.  I hope to squeeze in a few minutes at the bench.

Have fun,
mike
My current build is the Oil Derrick and miscellaneous rolling stock .

Morning crew,

Not much happening here. A little snow/thaw and a provision run yesterday. I need to get to the basement!

I picked up Bob Browns mag and saw Deemery was published.... Way to go Dave!

Thumbing through I find several Sierra West model write-ups praising these and cringe that no one has told the manufacturer to fix the track. The track link doesn't even connect. $56 bucks for that?
Off my soapbox now.

Have a great day and make the LPB's happy doing the best you can with ur modeling!

Huh, not me!   That's a great issue, though.  Several how-to articles where I learned something.
