Back Again,

Karl sorry to hear about the cat. Been there....done that and it sucks!!!!!!!!

Philip I don't use paint to color 3D prints to look like wood. Blick.com sells single full sticks of different colored chalks by Rembrandt about $4.95 each; well worth the money. Drop me a PM and I can give you the colors I use if you're interested.

Philip,

The exposed wood sheathing on this turret is made from strip styrene.

I primed the entire thing with rattle can primer. I painted the wood with a tan acrylic, in this case AK Interactive Wood Base, but any tan will work. I then did a wash of burnt umber acrylic(watered down Vallejo). Once that was dry, I weathered it with Bragdon powders. First a general application of tan(Dust Bowl Brown),which flattens the sheen and evens everything out, and then light applications(a little goes a long way) of dark brown(Weathered Brown) and black(Soot) at the lower edges to show rot and wet wood.

Hope that helps,
Matt

Thanks Matt! Kickin ass!

I demand maufacturers pre color castings, etc to look woody ;D

Larry, I'm using those off brand chalks from Micro-Mark. They must be 10 years old. Are those the rembrants Sierra West has posted on the website? I have a few of those. Running low tho. Email coming!

Larry C

Yes, those are listed on Brett's website and I think they work really well.

Good morning everyone.

50 now, sunny and 69 later.

I see Curt is here too and I'll assume he's getting breakfast ready.

Matt, your modeling is outstanding.

Jerry, I'd love to see what you're working on.

Ron, hope today is less busy.

Karl, very sorry on the loss of your cat.

TomO, what movie did you see and how was it?

Larry, great news about the warmer weather.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm up much earlier than I want to be.
A nap later to make up for the lost sleep.
Star and I did 16.44 miles and 1,699 of EG yesterday on the McCullough Hills trail.
REI, Barnes and Noble, an appliance store to ask about getting a washer and Dryer for my daughters new home and probably Costco all planned for today.
Tomorrow, one more hike.

This is from my hike at Lake Havasu.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening Rick. Pretty picture.

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, muffins, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 56F and no breeze. Yesterday after putting in details and update I glued the Foundry complex on the diorama base.

Today is floor day :P but after that I'll head to the workbench for a bit depending on my energy level.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Have fun at the bench.

Rick - another great photo.

Matt - your work is fantastic and fascinating.

We had bowling yesterday and only won 2 of 8 points. I bowled a 230 but Mario, our friend, bowled a 268.

Pam and I have a couple of errands to run this morning and then I'll get back to the Koontz build.

Have a safe and warm day everyone.

Saw your update great work Curt.

Rick sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you.
Pretty picture.

Tom your build is coming along nicely.

Larry sounds like you have your day all planned out.

Weather in South Jersey P. sunny/29.  Later 43.
Izzy to the groomer this morning.
While there we will get the groceries we need.
Not much from the bench my fingers have been killing me, so those little parts are a real PITA to work with.

Good morning Rick, Curt, ACLTom, Larry, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, have fun at the bench later today.

Rick, sounds like an expensive shopping day is planned.

Tom, hope a lot of progress is made on the kit today.

Larry, hope you make it to the bench later today.

Jerry, hope the fingers get better soon.

Current temperature is 2c (35f) with rain showers in the forecast this afternoon.  More of the same is forecasted for tomorrow before it gets cold again.  No modeling last night as other things distracted me, we shall see what tonight brings.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all, grey skies but temp in mid 30s.  Some of the ice may break up today and tomorrow.

NOT a great day yesterday, after all the stress of the cat we'd lost Monday, we had been ignoring one of the other two that wasn't eating well, and the Doll decided to have her checked.  Vet found a huge mass in her with an x-ray.  Sadly we dealt with the need to have another animal put down.  ON the way home from the vet, the Doll's best buddy that had just gone to Florida over the weekend for two months texted.  Her husband got hit by a car and is in serious condition in a hospital in St. Augustine with a head injury.

Today is unsure.  Our remaining feline, Tiger, is lonely and not sure where his sisters are.

Little to add today.  Not terribly into the holiday thing right now.

Rx I planned to get yesterday is about all I have to do.

Thanks for all the well wishes.  You are all great folks and appreciated beyond words.
