Howdy Larry,

Are you finished with Hank's?  It seems like you always find something more to add to your builds.  Great job.  Thanks for the fun build to follow.

Have fun,
mike

No, I'm far from done with Hank's I just set it aside to do the Challenge build. Now it'll be back at it.

A little late to the steam engine party. That steam engine is known as a launch engine used in early steam boats. It was used to power the Climax Class A engines. Here some pictures of it on the engine.

Larry,

Nice work on the engine and boiler. Neat detail with the coal and shovel.

Kyle thank you so much. When your doing your own modeling sometimes it's a challenge to get around and see what other folks are doing.

Time for an update:

IMG_M0093.jpg

Decided to get the back of the diorama all finished up before proceeding. This area is why I ordered the 3D pallets from Rusty Rail knowing I didn't have a lot of room but still wanted to get a tank car, yet to be built, back here to fill the water tank that supplies the boiler.

Started by figuring out how many and where I want some empty pallets leaning up against the back of the building. Then added overgrowth between where the pallets would sit and some 6mm grass tufts behind the pallets. After that I added the dirt followed by ballasting the track. Finally I colored the pallets, after breaking the boards on a couple, with raw umber & clear alcohol. When those dried I weathered them with black chalks before gluing in place.

This photo I really like looking down the length of the track and as you can see there's still plenty of room on the side to get a car down the siding without hitting the pallets. I also added a few 6mm grass tufts in between a few of the rails.

Next is building the structure to hold the water tank which has already been started to support the tank that feeds the boiler. This will be about 6 foot high to use gravity to bring water into the boiler. That's it for now and looking forward to all your great comments and/or suggestions.
