Thanks Mike for following and your kind comments. Lots to do.
It's really amazing how much time it takes to build a small building like this
vs. a larger building. Almost the same time span.

QuoteI find it's the perfect place to add some BF corrugated panels!  ;)

Now where have I heard that one before, BF Panels? catburt.jpg

Since my earlier post, I found some additional wood trim parts that needed an update.

I added a wood panel next to the stairs up to the edge of the roof.
I added the roof peak trim where the wall met the roof edge.
I had to add a width of wood trim where the building meets up with the stone wall so
no light gaps are seen.
I am drinking my favorite beverage - "COKE" and listening to some favorite music while building!

And, I'm sorry for my pictures, I can't film as good as ACL Tom, I don't have three hands.  :)
Currently working on the BF Corrugated panels now. Back in a few maybe, if I don't get any cuts.

Howdy Rich,

The porch and stairs build finished nicely.  It looks like it belongs attached to the structure.  Nice work.

Have fun,
mike
My current build is the Oil Derrick and miscellaneous rolling stock .

Thanks for the nice comment and for stopping by Mike.
I wanted to make something out of the ordinary. The
small oval windows are for looking to see if a train
is coming with a new load of sand.

Phillip, thanks for the nice comments.
Rather than building a set of stairs and entrance using square windows,
my thoughts were to build it with a little pizazz. I think it adds to a
dull end of the building.

Earlier, at the beginning of this build, I had mentioned that I had painted/colored the
roof of the main stone building, seven years ago. Now that it's time to add another small addition to the main stone building, and in trying to keep the roof coloring aligned with the larger structure, a problem arises. I can't remember the recipe used to make the final roof color. I know I had mixed several colors but now what were they? This is a prime example why we need to write things down.

After trying several colors today, I decided to use Josonja Brown Earth on the roof over the porch, thinned with windshield washer fluid. I used Floquil Brown Walnut stain (F110760), on the outside vertical siding walls.

Let's turn attention to the lower outside BF Panels I mentioned earlier. In March of 2024, I received a small packet from a trusted friend in the mail. Upon getting the mail that day, my CEO and live-in partner asked, "what to he*%l did you buy now?" Upon opening that package, I was astonished beyond reality! I had received some corrugated panels from Bernd Fanghanel, who I now refer to as "The Corrugator!" Bernd's background ability to make parts for model railroading using skills he has fine-tuned from years of experience in the use of machines, can, in my mind make almost anything. He developed a rolling machine to make these panels to scale, at least for HO scale, but I'm not sure if he did it in other scales too.

I showed these corrugated sheets to some other modelers, and my thoughts ventured out to them, if they wanted to have some, then they needed to "suck-up" to the Corrugator!

I have similar corrugated sheet material, bought from other online merchants, but these panels are the perfect thickness and lightweight enough to use in HO scale modeling. You may want to reach out to Bernd, to see what he used to make them and perhaps someday if there's enough interest, he might like to show how he made the machine to make them too. Sorry to expose you Bernd, but sometimes this type of exposure is a good thing!  ;D

The porch addition is not exactly finished yet. I will do final weathering later.

Very nice.  And the coloring is perfect.
The small addition sure does add a lot to the build.

More to do.

Here's a picture of the BF Corrugated Panels I received from Bernd.
The one-sided blue ones, I may keep for a special project.

Looking good, Rich.

I didn't realise Tom has three hands.  That explains a lot!

I love your little addition.  remember, small roofs like that are often replaced, meaning colour matching is not that important - although your match seems pretty good.  Bernd's corrugated iron seems pretty nice!  Looking forward to the 'how to' article, Bernd.

Cheers, Mark.

I really like the color Rich and think covering the bottom looks better than what you had previously.

As long as I don't get inundated with requests for starting a business making the corrugated sheets.
I'll do an SBS and how I discovered what to use. Another project added to the "To Do" list. The OWMBO is going to have fits that her projects are not getting done.  :o   ;)

By the way you did a nice job on that building. Always fun to follow your building and painting techniques.

Mark,

Thank you for following me here on this.
I know an addition does not have to match but I didn't want it to look odd
by using a stark color, especially for the roof. I was going to use a faded red
color but decided it would be too colorful.

Regarding Bernd, I gave him an additional project.  8)
