Morning all,

Cloudy here and headed to a high of twenty four degrees.  It snowed all afternoon yesterday, but really no accumulation.

I have a trip to the grocery store on tap for today.

Here's a picture of my train cleaning setup.  Vacuum (note the piece of screen under the attachment in case anything besides dust gets sucked up), airbrush and a soft brush used to dust off the locos and rolling stock.  Two throttles so the next train can come out of the yard while the now clean one can go elsewhere on the layout. I now have fourteen trains spread all over the layout.  I've vacuumed the West Yard and now all the trains need to return to it.  Then the East Yard (only three trains) will need cleaning as well.

Morning All,

Nice setup Dr Jeff.

My son is a seasonal driver for UPS, so we've had a LOT of time with the grandkids...and they are a LOT. My wife is absorbing 90% but I'm still exhausted just thinking about chasing around the 2-year old boy of joy.  ;D

Lots going on with the layout - 90% in my head, but some in the real world. I ordered backdrops from TrainJunkies and had it somewhat "customized" to fit my scenery plan. I've already cut foamcore backdrop supports to fit the modular nature of my layout. I imagine that roll will be arriving soon and, hopefully, I'll have time to get it done while still babysitting, pursuing (surviving?) fitness and jiu jitsu, holiday stuff, and (oh yeah) work.

Good news is the last one might be OVER some time in February if all that has been agreed to comes to fruition  :-X

I'm liking the changes I've made to simplify some of the trackwork and focus more on the "scenes" I intend to create...That's NEVER been a choice I've regretted. I'm very excited to share the accelerated construction over the next months and years.

Definitely a cool setup, Jeff.  Thanks for the workflow discussion.

Light snow in SE NH.  We'll be sitting on the transition line between rain/sleet/snow for much of the day.

Back to the train room in a bit, the dog with the runs made it through the entire night last night with no episodes.

Cold, teens, and cloudy bright this am in MI.  Except for the W Shore area little if any snow today.

I had an ok, brief okey dokey from my "medical provider" yesterday and spent the day at home ofterward.  Some new 3d stuff in  the works.

Enjoy the day, all.

Morning. cold and snowy here in western NY. Wife decided to stay home today from going to the "Y". Good decision as I have not yet put the snow treads on her car.

And Jeff speaking of dust in the train room. My whole setup of wood shop, machine shop and computer room/modeling room in the basement is subject to alot of dust. So is the living area upstairs since I have a spiral staircase connecting living area with basement with no door to close to keep the dust out of the living area. The solution was to build a airfilter that cleans the micro fine dust out of the air. Tried it this weekend. Works pretty good. Also working on a venting system that will keep the volital odors out of the living area. Pictures below show the airfilter and the other is what will be used to vent odors to the outside.

That second picture shows an 8" duct fan, 8" X 25feet of ducting and the beginings of parts for mounting in the basement window.

At this rate of 1:1 projects I'll never get any modeling time in.

The reason for the duct fan is to ventilate VOC odors. I still have a couple of kitchen cabinets to build and coat with cleaar polyurathane finish. This will keep the VOC odors out of the living area, I hope. The concept is that if the fan creates a negative pressure in the basement it will draw air from the living area and vent it outside. A small cracked open window upstaris should create an airflow to the basement. I'll find out if this theory works in the next month.

Ok, got to go feed the birds. Their breakfast table is covered with snow.
