Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Enjoy the hike and safe travels.

I got a solid 7 hours last night never getting up once. ;D I'm supposed to walk today but will wait until the temps are above 40F. Yesterday I spent several hours reading up on weathering and spent time practicing. I expecy more practice today. Around noon today MOH is taking off to Tampa. Daughter isn't going since she has had covid/flu type symptoms all week.

Not much else going on this way.

Tom I hope you and Pam are still ok.

MOH just told me Pensacola got 9 inches of s**w overnight.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Enjoy the hike.

Larry, good luck with the couch repair.

Curt, hope your Daughter gets well soon.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning at 21F.  I'll be glad when this cold front moves on.  Decaling the combine was a disaster.  I coated the decals after printing, but the color still melted when I dipped them in water.  I was tired of fooling with homemade decals, so I used commercial white lettering.  I'll post photos later.  I don't like the way it looks, but it is what it is.

Have fun,
mike

Quote from: KentuckySouthern on January 15, 2026, 05:18:25 PMTomO; it's a good thing your "arteest" has a fall back to the Graphics design plans. AI is killing the jobs. My 43yr old daughter Michigan State Arts Grad, left a high power GArts gig with an ad agency and is working for a commercial construction contractor doing pre build projects. She has started a part time consulting company working for a couple of her previous clients (state lotteries).  It's a scary time for creative endeavors right now.

Best to her. Sounds ambitious.

She is a go getter Karl. She does her graphic arts work from her studio about 45 miles from me and 1/2 way to Dubuque Iowa. Her main clients are in Madison, Dubuque and Davenport. She is working for daddy as she is doing all his artwork for his hardscape landscaping jobs as she learns the business besides my graffiti. But her main thing has been she does big landscape paintings and does the Summer weekend Art Festivals circuit in Wisconsin and some dates in Iowa. There she says she's doing extremely well. Gets lots of commission work from the Summer weekends. Good kid that finally understood daddy wasn't wrong just a jerk as to how he handled her.

When I delivered 10 cars Monday I asked her about Ai and she said it will take over but a human still needs to tell it what to do. She knows graphic artists are going to be dead end jobs but by then she'll be more into daddy's business that she does now want to run it someday.

Good morning from a very white covered So Central Wisconsin. Maybe 3-4" of the WGFA when we read maybe 1" predicted...

The roads were terribly greasy as we came home at 10:30 last night from campus. The UW man ranked #2 nationally and #4 Michigan State played. We lost in what Terry and I both believe was a boring 3-4 loss. The Badgers looked uninspired and the Spartans, holy crap, they are big men who can skate! That's our every other year Men's game we go to. For college I do prefer the Women's game and of course I love the NHL. The Badgers looked uninspired, the Spartans big

I'm supposed to deliver another 30 cars this morning to my graffiti artist. I may wait to drive until this afternoon because of the road conditions but If not today it will be Sunday.

I'll head to the train room just because as I had no plans. The work session planned today was cancelled Wednesday due to weather. All those who work on this layout drive at least 45 minutes. The owner didn't want anyone taking chances so re-scheduled to Monday

Fish Fry Friday a Wisconsin Tradition like no other is a new place to us. Been in business a couple years and I've read it's good. Our Reservations are for 7:10pm. If the weather is bad and that's very possible according to the WeatherChannel app we will drive down the hill 1/2 mile to our back up FFF place.

Be well

Good morning Rick, Larry, Curt, Mike, TomO and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, enjoy you hike today.

Larry,  Hope the couch repair goes well.

Curt, glad you got a good nights sleet, have fun practicing your weathering techniques.

Mike, Sorry to hear about the decal disaster, I know when I make decals I use a laser printer, then spray them with a flat matte finish.  I then let them sit for a couple days before using them.

TomO, enjoy your day.

Current weather is -21c (-6F) and cloudy.  Spent some tome last night cutting wood for the loading dock.  Probably won't get any more done on it this weekend as ore On30 group have a setup this weekend.  Need to load the modules in my car and set up this afternoon.  I promise I'll take some pictures this time.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Have a nice hike dress warmly!!

Larry keep the white stuff by you.
Good luck with the couch.

Curt make sure you keep the snow down there!!!

Mike sorry to hear about the decals.

TomO you have a very talented daughter.

Ron make sure you take the pictures this time!

Weather in South Jersey sunny/25.  Later on 35.
Well the wall I was working on needs to be done over.
For some unknown reason it's a 1/4" taller than it's suppose to be.
I know why it happened just stupid on my part.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

I wrote late yesterday, so little to add this morning.  Cold and snow is the forecast for the next few days here in MI.  LOTS of snow closer to the Lake than me.

I did get the jig made and glued up some bents for the bridge project.  Sort of a test build for a future, bigger project.

IMG_3097.jpeg

I used yellow carpenters glue, the dried bents popped right out.

Indoor plans here today.

Yes TomO the SPARTANS have been playing great hockey.  I had a friend that used to take us to the games but he's gone and my hockey bug is as well.  Now, our HOOPS team is something to behold as well.  Best on TV.  All the good seats are Lonnng gone at the Breslin.

Mike, I feel your pain on the decals.  I've had varying success with DIY decals, from great to floating turds... :o

Enuf...be well all.

Good morning, all. Sunny and may reach freezing on the NH seacoast.  I've got the rest of the day for modeling, and a list of projects to work on.

TomO and Karl, I'm not betting on imitative ai.  It looks great to the moneymen as long as it's cheap or free, but the financials of AI companies are far enough beyond comical to make me think 'fraud'.  Ai won't be cheap/free or nearly as popular once it has to earn its keep.

Breaking News

The Soo locks have closed for the season. The last two vessels through had quite the venture traveling from Duluth on the big Lake, Superior aka Gitchee Goomie.

It's "ice in" here for Lake Winnipesaukee   https://www.wmur.com/article/ice-in-lake-winnipesaukee-new-hampshire-2026/70010527  But with last week's warm weather, the ice isn't very thick.

On bridges:  I need the trestle bents for the farm road bridge to fit against the rock cliffs.  Clearance there is tight, I'll probably have to sand/cut away some more plaster.  I built an inverted U shape wood template to use for clearance from 1/4 plywood, so it's good and sturdy.  I also have an approach for how to do the two approach ramps, but I'll wait until I show that works before I talk about it.  :o

Jerry I do have a very talented and stubborn daughter. Thank you! She takes after her mom...

The graffiti artist is the daughter of a weathering client and she also is very talented and stubborn.

People forget that James. All that's being seen now is the CEO or founders pay and those Data centers they want to build with tax incentives. Wisconsin landowners, those who pay the utility bill, have finally started asking for accountability and the State has lost a few possible Data Center projects. The water use is IMOO criminal abuse of a utilities' authority. I'm NOT against the data center but why, why should I have to pay ur electric and water bills?

Spartan hockey is good no doubt! Big friggin boys especially on defense. I know the Badgers beat them twice in East Lansing in early December. Today's game should be a good one to watch but it's on BigTen+ and that's the Big Ten Network's streaming service

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Starting out here at a chilly 45F. Yesterday I did my 3 mile hike around 10 am then after getting home finished packing up the van for MOH. After she left I pretty much ran out of motivation and sat on my backside for the rest of the day.

We had a warning on our digital thermostat yesterday about aux heat being on so we called the ac company about it (installed along with new system in Aug.) They checked the system but the problem was a thermostat setting. The damn thing is smarter than me. :-\

Today nothing is planned other than workbench practice.

Rick safe travels.

Tom I really hope you and Pam are alright.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Glad the heating problem was correctable.

How goes the rest of the crew?

I finished the combine and posted a few photos.  My next structure build will be a stone sheriff's office.  Yesterday I designed it on paper. Hope to get to it this afternoon.

I'm off to a Masonic forum this morning and should be back home by 3:00. Forums are always fun and good for catching up on the Masonic doings in Georgia.

Have fun,
mike
