Everyone with a dog/cat at home:  Keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide handy.  That's a great way to induce vomiting after the dog/cat eats something they shouldn't.   Bookmark this page, or at least look up how much to give your pet and write it on the peroxide bottle:  https://dogscalculators.com/toxicity-safety/dog-hydrogen-peroxide-vomit-calculator/

Good twilight, everyone.  Left BigE about 1PM. Purchases were the White River book on the Chicago, Missouri & Western and a brass scale rule. Appears the General scale rule most of us grew up with is out of production.

Took 3 1/4 hours home from Springfield, 1 hr longer than normal. Only saw one accident; the dry snow was building up in lots of places but not much trouble driving through. I managed 45 MPH on segments of I-90 where I wasn't following plows. Visibility maybe 500 feet. Snow got heavier the last 20 miles; visibility just before I got off I-495 down to 300'. And then the town roads with plows hurrying toward me on the plowed side while the edge of the pavement on my side was hidden. Finally, parking the car outside my barn cellar driveway - it's short, and family can't run my tractor to do the long driveway.

Today I snowshoed out to the tractor's home, then 3 hours breaking plow berm and doing driveways for family.  Pretty much done when I got the shear bolts on the lower auger.  Family tired too, nobody else tried the snowshoes and I'm the only one with X/C ski boots. Driving again tonight, delivering son's friend back to her school.

Just to add to James' narrative:  It started snowing again about 3:30 or so.  It's not snowing hard, but this time it's big fluffy flakes, which pile up faster than the powder we got last night.  Looks like we'll get another 2-3 inches.  I was able to measure the snow on the back porch, about 13" - 14"

Good morning everyone.

16 in Birmingham now, sunny and 42 later.

Coffee, sodas, OJ and hot chocolate are ready.
Two eggs the way you want, crispy bacon and/or sausage along with home fries for breakfast today.

Dave, 13"-14" is more than enough.

James, hope last nights driving was completed safely.

James, Star will always be a puppy to me.

TomO, did you get all the hobby supplies you needed?

Karl, hope you got some good rest yesterday.

Hope all the other shovelers and plowers finished clearing the s$%# safely and got some good rest afterward.

One of the bosses here showed and invited Star and I inside.
I was assured everyone would be here today and the work on the van would be completed.
I already mentioned it, but I can't find the videos I shot at the Nevada Northern RR.
I can't imagine what happened to them.
Depending on what time the work gets done on the van, if it's early enough I'll move west a bit.

This was taken on one of my hikes at Yosemite.

Have a great day everyone.

PRR Modeler

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. It was nice of them to let you inside. Good luck with the repairs on the van. You should be heading to FL instead of west.. just saying.

It's starting out here at 38F and a feel like of 31F. While this feels warm to most of you lately, I assure you for a FL resident of 31 years it is darn cold. Tomorrow is supposed to be slightly cooler.

The only thing planned for today is meeting up with Terry to pick up the next kit, drink some coffee and BS some. I was told Thursday supper will be Chinese buffet with daughter's family.

Rick interesting perspective in the photo.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning from the "Winter Wonderland" called New York. Spent 3.5 hours yesterday snow-blowing the 18+ inches we received. Since they were kind enough to drop a couple more inches of Lake Effect last night I have a feeling I'll be back at it later today...ugh!! It's 11 with a high of 17; Curt I'll take the 30's anytime. Not sure about any bench time today.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Hope you get the Van seen to today so you can move along; safe travels. Nice photo btw.

Curt great news on getting the kit and have fun BS'ing with Terry. I added another Chapter yesterday to my blog; enjoy.

What's on your agenda?

Have a great day!! Be well, stay warm, don't overdue on the s*ow removal, and stay safe.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick. The hot chocolate is perfect for today. Nice photo and along with the carvings, probably not petroglyphs, it appears there was a structure between the trees. Hope you get the van fixed today.

We have bowling at noon and late lunch/early dinner with bowling friends after.

Probably no bench time for me today.

Have a safe and warm day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.  Good luck with the van.  Nice photo.

Curt, enjoy your meetup.  Congrats on the model purchase.

Larry, hope you don't have to get back out and shovel.  Brrr.

TomACL, good luck on the lanes.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning in the frozen place.  It's 14°F but warming to 40°F later today.  We didn't have any precipitation during this storm.  Yesterday was spent working on lodge stuff.  Lodge tonight.  My workbench will stay lonesome.

Have fun,

Warmer than Georgia here!, it's 15o with a early sunny break in what is warned will be all day long snow, hopefully not as much as LarryC reported.

Rested, 3d printed and studied a couple U-toob videos yesterday.  Fed birds, boy are they hungry!  Enough Cardinals to elect a new Pope.  The Doll just said they all flew off and there is a big hawk sitting under the crab apple, that scares them off for sure.

I did dull coat the decals on the sleeper, pic to insert from my iphone in a bit. As promised—-  ;)

Snow and cold to last much of the rest of the week. We're far enough East inward from Lake Michigan that the lake effect usually tapers off a bit from double digit levels.

Thas all I got...stay warm. The sunshine is gone already and the snowfall has begun.  :o

Good morning Rick, Curt, Larry, ACLTom, Mike, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, hope the van work goes well and you get away early.

Curt, enjoy the coffee and BS'ing with Terry today.

Larry, you got a lot more of the white stuff than we did.  When it was all said and done we got about 6 inches.

ACLTom, good luck bowling today and enjoy the late lunch/early dinner with your bowling friends.

Mike, good luck at lodge tonight.

Karl, sleeper looks great.

Current temperature is -14c (7f) and overcast with a little snow in the forecast today.  I did make it to the bench last night and did some more decking on the loading dock, about 2/3 done now.  Tonight I think the Mrs has plans for me.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Safe travels for you and Star.

Curt have a nice day with Terry and keep the BSing to a minimum.

Larry you have more white stuff than I do but ours is just a frozen mess.

Tom & Pam good luck bowling today.

Mike have fun at the lodge with the guys.

Karl nice job on that coach.

Ron looking forward to you updates.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/16.  Later 24.
We have a top coating of ice over the snow I can walk on it and it doesn't even break.
Shoveling is a real slow process here.
I took a picture yesterday but never posted it so I will post it today!!

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)
