Read this auction completely and tell me what you think!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-SCALE-4-details-designed-by-me-and-2-others-/231327197655?

This is a reply (question) I sent to him thru eBay:

Dear jpcohen,

Please clarify your listing - first, you say that these are leftovers from craftsman kits, including manufacturer names!
Then you say that these are designed and crafted by yourself!

It can't be both, unless you're just making a mold and reproducing detail items
from some major kit manufacturers!

If so, that is not acceptable to the majority of true hobbyists!!

I'll agree that a careful reading of the listing is confusing at best.  But then he is a proud member of the APC (stamp collectors).  That said, he doesn't seem to hide who and where he is.

i believe him when he says 4 of them were designed by himself , I haven't opened one of my SW or FSM kits yet , but if the cast in those come close to his coke box , I'm sending back my FSM.
I love photo's, don't we all.

I suspect he used a template from previous listings of details from actual kits and failed to update the text to reflect the contents of this auction.

Regardless, the listing was way too wordy. Were I looking for details I'd have seen the one photo with the listing (not the ones in the description) and moved on. I don't want already painted details unless they are better than what I could come up on my own.

If you've been around long enough, you may remember Paige Industries, who 'cloned' SS Ltd and other castings.  Thy were eventually successfully sued and forced out of business.

You're right to ask about the origin of these.  It's not illegal to make and sell your own castings, or to see unused castings from kits.  But it is illegal (copyright violation) to make and sell copies of other people's castings.

I don't see anything there that is even close to the detail that comes out of a yellow, or red box.

Well again I am a day late and a dollar short.  I went to the site and it has been ended.  Perhaps your e-mail to him let him know that:
1. He unintentionally worded it wrongly and is going to redo...
2. He was copying other peoples work, thinking he was very smart.

Personally, a grain of doubt has been planted and I would not touch it with a pole of unlimited length.  I don't care how he words it.  Just my opinion.

Durn, the eBay sellers have seemed to take aim at the Campbell kits!
The starting prices have increased tremendously over the last 6 to 9 months!  :( :(
Glad I bought most of mine over a year ago!  ;D ;D ;D

This was a "no mistake listing" on the sellers part. He has been around before and has listed the same six items a couple of years ago. It seems a bad penny just keeps rolling along.
