looking good Jan, and that should hold the rails just fine when you cut them lose.

That is a cool solution to keep the rails aligned.  Wish I had thought of something like that for my hinged section.

Ballasting the liftout , yes you will be able to see a tiny bit of the screws but it won't be too bad.

Before I ballasted it I had a run over it , I would say my Golden Spike moment on my upper level.

Thank you Tom , I can finally run a train around the whole level , now to do the scenery for the whole level , well I have plenty of time , I hope  ;)
What happened to embedding youtubes , I saw in one of your threads that it only showed the code not the youtube itself.

Jan,

Can you tell me on what page of the thread the youtube only showed a code and not the acutal video? I went through all the ones I had on the build thread for the A&S and they all showed videos.

\Maybe it works for me and not others.

Great "Golden Spike Moment" Jan.....I enjoyed the video.  8)

Maybe we should add "videos" to our "we love pictures" slogan? ;)

Jan,

I fixed the problem on page 170 of Part 2. I've posted it here for your convenience. Thanks for letting me know about it.

Had the day off today before I work 7 days , so I did some switch and track work.

Soldering wires to the DPDT switches for turnout control.

Cobalt switch machine installed. I use double sided tape to temporarily fix it to the layout , if the turnout works correctly I then screw the Cobalt, checking if it still works after 2 screws and the full 4.I prefer Cobalts over Tortoises because the wires are not soldered to the switch machine and are therefore easy to change if they make a short or are the wrong way around.

When I have to use other wire then the one in the box I use piano wire, which I let stick out quite a length, easier install then when the wire is exactly long enough , and it's easy to cut afterwards.

Very thin styrene with a slot in it for the wire so I can ballast right up to the wire.

My water filled milk jugs to weigh down the track while waiting for the caulk to set.

Jan,

Nice gallon weights and cheap for sure.

I'm happy your weather is changing so you can get back to the layout modeling. I always get more enthused as the weather cools.
