Here are a few pictures from George's web site showing Beaver Meadows now.  George moved the engine house to make room for his latest kit the "

I'm getting ready to post some more pictures here and decided to give George a call to get a few of our questions answered, and see how he was doing with all the snow in the Boston area.  Here are a few bullets from the conversation.

Randy - The telephone poles and insulators are a combination of RIX Railroad Telephone Poles and some FSM castings.  George says he used both depending on what he had on hand at the time.  The Rix product is still available I checked their web site.

Tom - The Hiram's Meat Packing kit you purchased is from one of the many people that copied one of George's structures and tried to make a buck selling kits.  George had no idea who did the one you found.

The new kit is coming along fine - here is one more reason we need to wish for spring - George can't make the new castings for the kit until the weather gets warmer - it costs to much to run the exhaust fans.  I'm all for keeping the costs down and new FSM castings.

George like everyone else on the East coast has been spending a lot of time shoveling snow.

John,

Well, now the mystery of the Hiram's Meat Packing kit is solved. Thanks for checking into the issue with George.

The phone conversations with George about the details, and history of the layout provide very interesting insight into his modeling.  Please feel free to add new questions to the list as we continue on our tour of the layout.

I added about a dozen new photographs of the Chesterville and Beaver Meadows area if you want to go back a few pages and take a look.

I have been numbering the photographs as I add them to the thread - tonight we reach the landmark of 500 photographs. I had a discussion with George this week about my next visit and getting some good closeups of the structures in Franklin.  I really want to replace some of the photographs that are out of focus because of the lighting and digital zoom that was required to focus on one particular structure in a larger overview photograph.  It's on the to-do-list for my next visit to the F&SM.

As we move on down the mainline, just as we get to the curve in the photograph below, we come to an area that George has named Wolf Hollar.

This area is across the mainline from the Burley Farm that we visited earlier in the thread.

The Wolf Hollar area consists of a great bridge, a Grist Mill, and a cabin.  Here are a few photographs of the area.

John,

I'm sure I speak for others when I say, "We very much appreciate the time and effort you've spent in posting all things F&SM related in this thread. Again, thank you, it's wonderful."

Thanks for the kind words - this thread is forcing me to organize and study all the pictures so it is having a very positive affect on my modeling.  I hope everyone is enjoying going through the pictures as much as I am.
