Re. the Alan Deek's structure: is this a "building flat"? This photo is the one that I have also, and have wondered if there is no detailed rear side to this. Does anyone know?

No it is not a flat building.  I did some research tonight and found the new location for the building.  It is right in the center of South Manchester behind the green draw bridge.  I did some photo shop work and will post the pictures that I have.

Here is a couple pictures that show the new location for Alan Deek's - George is using the building as a background building with the unique roof lines.

Thanks! I love this thread!

I'm glad you are enjoying the thread.  I scanned through the pictures that I took from the other side and there doesn't seem to be a clear view of the building.  At least from the angles that I looked at.  I will do a deep dive on this when I get around to that area with the thread.  I hope this helps with your project.

Thank you! The more I think about it, I may do this as a background flat structure....the roof lines are great on this structure.

I had a long talk with George this afternoon and he answered my list of questions. As for the Alan Deek's building, it was originally built for Dovertown (this is the front complete building pictures that have been published).  When he moved it to South Manchester it is used as a roof line building and the upper level on the back with the dormer windows is all that was finished.  What was visible on the layout from all angles.

I also asked George a number of questions about structure names so I could get moving again on our tour of the layout.  We left of at the edge of town coming into Bedford Falls for those of us that were having a rough time remembering.  I will be post pictures of this area in the next week.

It's time to get back on our tour of the F&SM - I have lots of pictures ready to post!  But first I have one more picture of Alan Deek's building courtesy of Mark Dalrymple.

Thanks for the pictures John.  Although I have a much smaller layout, I frequently get good ideas for details on my structures.  Jim

Thanks for following the thread - I think we all get great ideas from George's work.  I'm really enjoying putting this thread together.  I'm also putting together a list of pictures that I want to take on my next visit to the F&SM.

Starting our journey around the layout where we left off - the entrance to Bedford Falls.  The last structure we looked at was the box car red structure shown here. The next structure in the row is the Uneeda Biscuit building.
