Here's a photo showing some of those signs and how they looked on my stucco.

I also think you can scrape some of it off where the signs go.
Rick,

Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated. The paper signs are 2-3 ply so I'm sure they will fit on the walls just fine.

Suggest doing a test strip with the stucco.  Then you can test scraping -or- sanding the stucco flat on the test, before working on the model.

Dave,

After my initial concern about the signs, I don't think the stucco will be an issue. If by chance it is, I'll let everyone know.

Butty Curt,

Yea, now that it has been a couple of days, I see that it is very subtle and will be just fine.

Quote from: Ensign on May 24, 2026, 05:00:19 PMTom, I think your stucco looks exactly how it should look.
I never had to repaint my Horwood's after applying my stucco.
I also never had to sand any areas where signs got glued down on it.
Keep up the great work!

Greg
Greg,

Thanks for the input on your build. I agree with all you've said. Now that I've had time to look at the stucco, as I mentioned above, it will be just fine.

Not sure about your build, but the Durham's putty in my kit is a tan/pale yellow color. Even mixing it with the Reefer White and applying it as Dario suggested, mine is definitely not white. You can see this in my build photos. I will still need to spray it white.

Didn't most of those old art deco type station have tinplate exteriors like the old Gulf stations?

Philip

Philip,

Thank you. Yes, they did. The signs will be just fine without having to sand/scrap any excess stucco.

Terry,

Thank you as well my friend. I've applied such a light coat of stucco, enough to see, that I'm confident I won't need to make any adjustments.

I finished the stucco on the show room building. I'll let the paint cure for several days and then spray it white.

I didn't apply stucco to the Keystone.

Here is another photo of Greg's build and a great shot of the signs.

Howdy Tom,

The stucco looks perfect.  Your technique yielded an excellent finish.  Nice work as usual.

Have fun,
mike
