Quote from: deemery on June 19, 2026, 05:14:46 PMGlad to see you back at it (and that the excess water didn't do any lasting harm to your train room....)

dave
Dave,

Thanks very much for the comment. The excess water wet about two dozen carpet tiles and the indoor/outdoor under carpet. The dehumidifier dried it all out in a few days. All is well now.

Curt,

The pieces were very fragile, but very well done as far as the laser cutting.

Quote from: Rick on June 20, 2026, 06:50:48 AMTom, nice to see you back making progress on this project.
That sign is going to look great.
Rick,

I'm back but the progress is very slow for now.

I agree, the sign will be a focal point in the scene.

Nice to see you at the bench again.
I see you had a typical "another problem, another solution" with the sign.  I'm pretty sure that once the repair is done, you would never know it was broken.  with the colours you have chosen, the sign will look great when completed.

Ron,

Thanks very much. The repair was a bit tricksie as shown below, but it did get fixed.

Larry,

Thanks for the kind comment on the sign. I believe it will be a "looker" when finished.

Well, I made the one repair and then realized I glued the new brace at the wrong angle.

Repair on the left.

When attempting to remove the repaired brace, the outside brace broke. Dang it.

Repair made on this as well.

The six billboard braces were painted with the dark blue. The letters were removed from the carrier as shown.

When gluing the letters to the billboard, I'll use the Good Year carrier sheet as a template.

I centered the carrier sheet over the billboard grid.

I used painters tape to hold the two pieces together.

The excess tape were removed using a # 11 blade.

I reversed wrapped painter's tape to a wood stir stick. The yellow letters were stuck to the tape.

I then sprayed the letters with a light coat of yellow.

Not shown, but when dry, I flipped the letters over and sprayed the backs. I made sure to cover the edges of the letters as well. When dry, I sprayed a flat finish on the letters to seal them.

Done for today.
