Nice to be back. I can see well enough to do this kind of work but not small modeling work.

I can't over due as I have a spouse that is very vocal when I spend to much time without resting the eye. She even times my reading. At least she cares enough to monitor all this.

Yipes Tom  I have never seen foam board to that before.  That must have been quite the shock to find.  Starting over was/is probably the best option.

Thanks, shock was one way to look at it. I was more than "pissed" at first. I then thought, it needs to be fixed so move on and don't dwell on it.

Yes, I agree, it certainly wasn't a welcome site to see. I'll fix it and move one. I gives me something to do while my eye heals to the point that I get my focus back to see cearly.

As I mentioned in past posts, I've used this method on other areas.

Pink foam glued to the plywood, 2 ply cardboard glued on top of the pink foam. When dry, seal and paint.

Roadway glued to the pink foam. This area has been here for years.



The structures on the right are all on pink foam and 2 ply.



This next area shows the pink foam and 2 ply. This area was done some 7 years ago with no separation of foam or 2 ply.

Yes, it is nice to have a (much)Better Half that keeps us in check.

All I had available were brass locos and freight cars. So, Its good that I didn't think of it.

Yes, they help us help ourselves. I just got out of a 2 hour "time out" to rest my eye.

I saved the sidewalks but still needed to clean them from the cardboard and glue on the bottom.



I used warm water and a pipette to apply the water to the glued area.



I let the warm water sit for about 15-20 minutes.

Once the warm water softened the cardboard and glue, I used a wood chisel to remove the glue/cardboard.



On a few pieces I had to repeat the process. On one piece I repeated it three times, but it all came off.



I let the sidewalks dry for a day and then used a large sanding stick to smooth the bottom of any small bumps.



Now it's time to redo the area.

Great to see you back at it Tom.

A couple of things that come to mind.  It appears to be a much bigger piece of cardboard than the other examples you show where you have had no problems.  I notice there is track directly underneath this area.  Could it be heat from lighting attached to the underside of the baseboard?  I would imagine this might cause warpage.  Perhaps a combination of moisture from the gluing process and heat from the lighting before the glue had properly cured.
