Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening and breakfast.  Seems you can't escape the sneaux.

Larry, hope you enjoy the SW items you received.

Philip, good luck with the big window printing...so slow.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a hazy morning here, and back in the 90s. Yesterday's tests were not successful.  Seems the prep wasn't efficient. Waiting on a biopsy from the EDG.  I think I will feel like going upstairs this afternoon.

Have fun,
mike

Another nice day here at the cedar swamp.  8) Sunny and fresh this am, ~60o headed to 70o or so.

Quite a hike, Rick. Sure sounds like a mixed bag of weather to climb in.

Our trip to Escanaba in da Sunlight went well, stopping again in Rapid River for chow. The blacktop crew was working in a passing zone yesterday so traffic was slowed but kept flowing along.

Read a couple books this week between other tasks. We have had some Mayflies around with the skeeters and ticks :o

Enjoying the weather here, it's still quite warm back at HQ.

Be well.

Rick, Star doesn't look quite as enthused with this hike.  Must have been the white stuff...

Mike, I've been through that "failed prep" drill.  Not fun!

Karl, do you-all get June Bugs to go with your Mayflies?

Hot and humid here today, but should be a nice weekend.  Lunch with my former office-mate/O Scaler, then a guy might come and give us an estimate for some hardscape work.  The granite slab that is our front door porch has shifted a bit, and that'll require heavy equipment to reseat.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, that was quite a hike, congrats.

Current weather is 20c (68c) with the sun shining.

Latest Gracie update: I have determined that I need to go to the fabric store and purchase some Velcro.  This will be attached to her paws with the hope of slowing her down.  ;D Other than that, she is doing great.

I did make it downstairs but no modeling got done as I spent some time cleaning up, my workbench is clean again.  We shall see what today brings.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. 73 at 8:30 and 83 later.

We had to skip San Diego because the heat of Scottsdale was bothering my brother due to his recent heart procedures so he wanted to return to Maui. We had to meet with his estate attorneys so we cancelled San Diego, and went to Scottsdale on Wednesday 4 days earlier than planned. Met the attorneys and Terry was trying for airline tickets back to Wisconsin. Weather screwed that up as the plane direct from Phoenix to Madison never made in because of weather. Got a flight to Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago O'Hara and Madison. 3 hour flight turned into a 10 hour night mare but we made it home Thursday. I dislike airports

Back at Christmas 2025 at a party at the daughter's I was approached by a couple I barely knew. I did know their son from the slot car racing sessions and them barely on the sidelines watching soccer. They asked me if I would paint them something for a room in their house. Surprised I told them I wasn't an artist. She said you still weather trains and I said yes, she said your an artist. Not convinced I said thanks but no.

Mentioned it to Terry a few days later and she laughed and said I've been telling you for years to get some canvas and paint. You're an Impressionist! I have had zero art appreciation classes and no intentions of ever taking one. Most artists I have met seem like actors, attorneys and bankers IMOO the perfect imagine of a snob. Well, I am now a snob. I have been painting small canvases since February basically during the extended model railroading funk time. I have done 3 canvases 3'x 4' the rest smaller.

Like anything I do I fell deep into the painting on canvas hole. 21 canvases since February. The women who was part of the couple at the Christmas party was in our daughter's office last week and the room I have been using for my weathering and painting on canvas Kait told me she left the door open. Her friend wandered in and saw my canvases. The daughter called me in California and asked if I wanted to sell any. I said sure except for the 1st one I finished! Price? I told her whatever her friend offered! I am now a paid artist and miraculously my sh.t no longer stinks!

I have no plans for the day other than trying to relax

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening Rick. Poor Star needs a sweater. Congrats on the successful hike.

Just got back from the breakfast with MOH's moderator group and after breakfast we walked a small farmers market. When I get done here I need to prep doors and windows for the current section of the build.

Tom I hope you're finally able to get out of bed and lower your leg.

TomO Congrats on becoming a paid artist not train related.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Now that's a hell of climb!!

Larry what is "wet rain" In Jersey the rain is always wet.

Philip I'll look for the update.

Mike I hope everything is alright.

Karl that one huge bug!!!

Dave have a nice lunch with your friend.

TomO congratulations on being a real artist!!

ACLTom hope your up and around.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/84.  Later on 88.
Yesterday taking the friend to the Dr.'s was fine until we left to come back home.
I have been in such a rain storm in my life within 15 minutes there was 5" of rain on the road and still pouring and windy.  Traffic was just at a standstill.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Good morning everyone.

47 in Frisco now, mostly sunny and 76 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Fresh coffee cake straight from the oven for breakfast today.

Jerry, I've been in rain storms like that where everything comes to a stop on a highway.
Scary.

Curt, Star loves the cold and rolls around in the s$%#.

TomO, congratulations on the art sales.
Any pics of your works?

Ron, I'm surprised the doctor didn't prescribe some trazodone to slow Gracie down a bit.

Dave, hope you got a good estimate.

Karl, what is that thing?

Mike, I always had issues with the prep too.

Philip, slow progress is better than none.

Larry, any saw progress?

ACLTom, how's the leg doing?

How's the rest of the crew?

Very lazy day yesterday.
But, there will be a little more hiking today.
Much less climbing on this trail.

It's funny reading your comments about Star and interpreting her expression.
In yesterday's photo, she didn't want to sit and pose for a picture.
She wanted to wander around and look out over the views.

For example, here's a picture where I caught Star admiring the view.
Also in this picture, off on the right, is Torreys Peak.
Look how steep that trail is and that's why I didn't do it that day.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. I haven't had coffee cake in forever.

Started out the day with a walk at 77F and surprisingly mild humidity. I also had a stare down with a raccoon in my driveway while I was stretching before my walk. :o

Today after chores I plan on continuing to paint doors and windows. I gave them an initial tan spray yesterday.

Nothing much else happening this way.

Tom when you feel up to it give me a call. I might have a lead for pink foam.

Jerry I saw on the news last night about the flooding in NJ. I hope you and your family are OK.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick. Coffee cake with cold OJ is good for me.

Thanks for all the well wishes on the leg. I stayed in bed for four days and couldn't take another one. I got out and about yesterday.

I'm in the train shed today balancing the two check books and will try to get some work done on Horwood brothers build as well.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Have an enjoyable and safe hike. Working on the saw butt it's slow going since the thing is quite delicate but I'll get there.

Curt funny you mentioned staring down a raccoon. I looked out on my back porch last night and there was a small one scarfing down whatever food she could find.

Tom glad the leg is coming along and you're able to get around; don't overdue. Hopefully this will be the last of it for awhile.

How's the rest of the gang doing?

It's a sunny 70 with a high of 84. The sprayer on the kitchen sink crapped out last night so that needs to be addressed; hopefully it's fixable. Then it'll be onto paying bills for the month and hopefully some bench time later on.

Have an enjoyable day!! Be well and stay safe.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.  Hope you have a terrific hike today.

Curt, good luck with the windows and doors.

TomACL, wishing you continued healing and fun at the bench.

Larry, good luck with the sprayer.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning headed to 90F.  Yesterday I made good progress upstairs.  The Model T now has a roof and is ready for the undercarriage and fenders.  I laminated the three pieces for the wheels and plan to sand them on the drill.

That's it from Lake Wobegon,
mike

Good morning Rick, Curt, Tom, Larry, Mike and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick.  We give Gracie trazodone when she go to grooming so she doesn't attack the groomer when she is getting her paws cut, she turns into a zombie.  Right now she wears a surgical suit so she doesn't go after the incision, which is healing well.  Enjoy your hike today.

Current temperature is 19c (67f) with the sun out again today.  Managed some time in the train room yesterday and got the backdrop for the staging yard mostly done.  I posted an update on my layout build thread.  Not sure what today will bring with the layout as I have a few options.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from Wisconsin. High today is 86f degrees with no chance of rain per the 10day forecast from the WeatherChannel app. High 80's and 90's during that time

The return home early and the fact the new place isn't ready has Terry looking for a couple over night instead of day trips. Has anyone here been to the National Transportation Museum in St Louis? I mentioned the Illinois Railway Museum in Union but we've done that and it's 90 minutes from home not an overnight trip! The National doesn't seem too impressive compared to the IRM in Union!

The temporary new digs just need to be painted which is scheduled for Tuesday the 14th with a backup date of 7/16. Door County is out because neither of us enjoy the Summer crowds though we really enjoy the area. I know tough life but we were not going to return until 7/17 but the heat does now affect the desert loving brother. But it seems the heat is everywhere this week.

Great pictures Rick as usual from you. I'm still following on FB! I have taken no pictures of my canvases but the guys at the modelrailroadforums.com have been encouraging me to take some.

Enjoy the day
TomO
