We got almost an inch of rain yesterday, much needed and appreciated.  Cloudy today, chance of showers all day.

One dog is at the vet, dental work and some diagnostics.  Neighbor is getting some trees taken down, I spoke sternly to the one truck driver who was backing up with a trailer, and no ground guide.  (When I was in the Army, that was an automatic Article 15 Non-Judicial Punishment act.)  So lots of noise and the occasional thump.  I'll sit with the other dog for a while, then head downstairs for exercise machine and some more scenery work.  First dog should be discharged mid to late afternoon.

Rick,  that's an interesting "conspiracy theory" but will have to wait a couple more races to see if it can gain traction.  Russell have have to suffer a couple more breakdowns first.    Enjoy your hike.

Current temperature is 16c (61f) and overcast with rain showers in the mix.  No modeling yesterday but I did manage to stain the switch ties this morning before I left for work.

AQI 12 this morning, after 600+ about 10 days ago.  Nice and pleasant, temp still in the 60s. 

Had my first sweetcorn of the season yesterday, mmmmm...

ACLTom bring on the grits, AND the sausage gravy. 

Outside stuff to do today, a loco on the bench will get a little attention somewhere, too.

Good afternoon, all. An hour ago it was raining and thundering on the NH seacoast, but now the front has blown out to sea. Mid 7-s and humid.  My lawn is pretty green and the orchard and various shrubs are growing.  Enough that I'll do some pruning in a bit.

Rick, when I visited the Cumbres & Toltec almost 20 years ago, they used a mix of trains & buses.  Westbound train out of Antonito, eastbound out of Chama met at Osier for lunch. Passengers could go back where they started on the opposing train, or a bus (cheaper/faster) or ride through to the other terminal and bus back to their car.  I think you could also start your day later riding a bus to Osier to return by train.  I got some good photos driving CO 17 along Cumbres Creek and on the west slope.
