Tom that must be really great popcorn to drive that far for it!!!!

Philip same here in Jersey rain and more of it.

James you have a busy day.

Weather in South Jersey is rain or what's new!
Supposedly tomorrow it will just be cloudy.

Weather here is the same as James.  We really need the rain, they're predicting a bit less than an inch in the next 24 hours.  But then, when they've predicted even more rain, we've gotten even less...

My music is ripped mostly classical CDs organized via iTunes and its mediocre music metadata.  Playback in Music.app has problems, too.

Eyes are still kinda funky.  The old eye is feeling some strain, I think, from doing all the close-in work.  I did some pick-up/put-away yesterday, and will probably do more today.  That doesn't require a fully functional pair of eyes.

It's much less than an hour drive at 46 miles with Miss Speedi and US HWY 151 was pretty empty. It's the far southwest edge of Wisconsin's Driftless region so the scenery on the meandering 3-4 hour trip home is just outstanding.

I grew up in Chicago and Terry the western shores of Lake Michigan in Racine Wi. We married and moved to North Central Wisconsin from 76 to 2014. When we moved in 2014 to So Central Wisconsin and the state capital"# suburbs we didn't know the area at all. Since retirement in 2014 we take day trips and try to get to areas of the State we haven't visited. It will be 12 years in September and we are still exploring and will till she can't drive anymore.

We do stop at Chocolate, bakeries, popcorn but Terry loves ice cream so if there is an ice cream shoppe it's even better. Our normal Thursday breakfast/brunch outings were at one time just a way for us to find our way around Madison and suburbs. Now we go with good friends and he is the head coach of one of the Wisconsin hockey teams so breakfast outings now are usually an hour out so he's not bothered for autographs from adults. Just another way to discover the area

But yes the popcorn at this place is worth it

Morning all,

Happy Memorial Day all.

Breakfast this morning is a simple one. French Toast with Maple Syrup. Strips of bacon for those who wish a little meat. Fruit bowls on the end for those cutting back. Fresh squeezed Fl. OJ, tea and coffee on the counter.

Yesterday I sat down to add stucco to Horwood Bros. build. The yard also needed to be edged and cut. My self made dilemma was to stucco and be thinking about the yard, or edge and cut the grass while thinking about the stucco. I chose to edge and cut the grass in the heat of the day (1PM) and then do the stucco, concentrating only on the stucco.

I need to make a run to Ace this morning a get a few bags of mulch.

Oh, and the tree guys showed up yesterday around 4:30PM to remove the two palm trees by the pool. Now some clean up by me and the back yard will be finished.

Have a safe, happy and quiet day.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Tom. Yard work at 1 PM? Not smart...said from the guy that did it 2 times last week. :-\

Started the day with a walk at 76F and heading to the 90's later.

Please take a minute today to think of the men and women who have died protecting our country.

Yesterday I cleaned up and put away all the stuff I've been using in prep of starting ground cover. While filling a squeeze bottle with white glue I managed to dump a bunch on me. Sigh.

Today after chores I'll start the GC. The first layer will be fine dirt from Scenic Express. The base is already painted earth brown.

Good morning everyone.

59 in Sioux Falls, sunny and 87 later.

Happy Memorial Day and a big thank you to all who served and gave their all.

ACLTom, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
I think your stucco turned out well.

TomO, keep enjoying your roadtrips and the treats along the way.

Dave, not too much longer before both eyes are fixed.

Jerry, was it a shingle day?

Karl, what did you think of the finish at Indy yesterday?

James, sorry for the loss of your friend.

Philip, still raining?

Larry, have fun at the bench.

Mike, anything new upstairs?

Ron, I was surprised who won the F1 race yesterday but not really surprised if that makes sense.
Nice to see two others enjoy the podium for the first time this year.'

How's everyone else?

Got back to Sioux Falls safely.
Went straight back to the bike trail and did a 5 1/2 mile walk.
For some reason the F1 race was on Netflix so I watched that.
Had a few T-Storms come through late in the afternoon and early evening.
Some hail mixed in too.
Need to do some furniture shopping today.

A RR bridge that's now part of the bike trail here.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Memorial Day,

Thank you to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep our Country free!!!!!!

Tom thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Great you completed the yard work but I don't think I could work outside in that kind of heat.

Curt have fun with the scenery. Nice photos of the engine.

Rick didn't think I'd hear you say "furniture shopping" good luck and hope you avoid the "sticker shock."

What's your plans.

It's been raining overnight so hopefully that'll cease soon. Would like to do some grilling this afternoon if possible. Work continues on the disconnect so maybe I can finish up #2 today. Need to write a grocery list for tomorrow but other than that not much else going on here.

Have a safe and enjoyable day!! Be well.

Quote from: friscomike on May 22, 2026, 08:05:06 AMGood morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Safe travels and good luck at the stereo shop.

Curt, good luck with your errands.  Have fun painting all those figures.

It's a hazy morning. Eye appointment went well.  The cataract surgeries were a success.  I ordered new glasses yesterday.  It will be busy all weekend with family functions.

Have fun,
mike
Did you do both eyes at once, or was this Eye #2?  I'm in that strange state between eyes.  The new eye is very nearsighted, and I'm going to look for cheap readers today.  For now, close vision is mostly using the very blurry other eye, and I'm feeling some eye strain.  Eye #2 gets fixed in 2 weeks.

The big blast of spam applications continues, I've asked Keep It Rusty if the forum software allows to block the one IP address where all this crap is originating.

Happy Memorial Day,

Wishing everyone a great day relaxing and remembering.

I'm still out of town but going home this afternoon.  Our daughter invited our inlaws and us for the weekend at her lake place.  It's been relaxing and enjoyably disconnected.

Have fun,
Mike

Dense FOG and mid 50s :o  changing over to  8) Sun and close to the 80o range a bit later in the day.  We had rain yesterday but this mornings' forecast is little of that for the next week.

Joy of victory and the agony of defeat in both races I had going yesterday.  Indy seemed not to gather up a rhythm that it often does, the ending was intense.  Charlotte's race was...long.

Grass mowing and travel prep on tap for today.  :D

Remember the reason for the day.  Thanks to all vets and their families.

I took this photo in 2011, Normandy:

Yesterday was a successful pick-up/put-away day, and I'll probably do more of that today.  My 2 eyes still aren't cooperating, but at least the cheap (WalMart) reader glasses let me read a book at night. My other accomplishment was making a spool to hold some wire that came in a nice donut shape but without anything to retain that shape.  If I didn't put it on the spool, it would degenerate into Rats-Nest.  Hey, you take your victories where you can find them in the train room!

Good morning everyone,

Happy Memorial Day to those south of the border.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, have fun with the GC.

Rick, F1 race was interesting and based on the weekend wasn't sure which Mercedes driver would win, but a mechanical issue solved that.  It was nice to see Ferrari on the podium.

Larry, hopefully you can get disconnect #2 done today.

Mike, have a safe trip home.

Karl, have a great day.

Dave, I need a couple of pick-up/put-away days to clean up my layout after 15 years of neglect, then I'll be able to work on the layout again.

Current temperature is 13c (56f) with rain falling.  Spent yesterday spring cleaning so no modeling happened.  Not sure what tonight will bring but it might be railroad modeling related as I haven't done any of that lately.

Have a great day everyone.

The stucco looks fine.

Curt nice picture this morning.

Rick furniture already?
Make sure you get a comfortable bed for the guest room!!!  ;D

Larry nice work on those disconnects.

Mike sounds like your having a nice vacation with the family.

Karl travel prep.  Northern command in the plans??

Dave hope the eyes are getting better.

Ron hope you make the bench later on.

Happy Memorial Day to all that served!

Weather in South Jersey is crappy once again.
But tomorrow it's supposed to be bright!
Never did get to the bench yesterday but will try today.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)
