Sun  and clear today, going to get near 80.  90s later in the week was threatened on the local W. MI weather outlet I use.

Daughter, and probably grand babe as well, coming over shortly.  I need to shove off shortly.

I did see Big Boy yesterday and even was able to get one of the Rail Cam feeds to show up on the 65"   It was neat to see and sure glad I wasn't in the midst of the thousands mobbed along the tracks in Fostoria.  Sure it was much more comfortable in the living room than it would have been trackside.  

Mowing started yesterday will get wrapped up today.

How goes the rest of the crew?

It's a cloudy day, but rain is not in the forecast. Yesterday I added more NBWs to the tank car.  The weight in the tank came loose, so I popped off one end and made a simple fixture to hold the weights in place.  I'll epoxy the weight in today. 

Sharon is off with our daughter to the coast until Tuesday. Hmm...

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Great shot of the mallard family. I wonder if they are related to ducky on the old NCIS series before it was ruined.

I've already completed my chores and getting ready to take Dad on his errands. This week Wednesday and Thursday are very full. I hope to crack the new kit on Friday. MOH is going to SeaWorld on Thursday with family and friends but not me. No more overpriced, overfilled very hot theme parks for me!

On Friday she drives to SC to meet up with her BFF and then drive to someplace in IA to pickup skunk kits from the breeder for the rescue. It's 19 hours driving w/o stops. She'll be back here the following Wednesday.

That's all the drama from me.

I'm reducing layers to .03. I read that may be the culprit. The first time every changing layer height in 7 years.

Good morning from Wisconsin. We will be in the mid 80's with no sun as it's cloudy supposedly all day. It should be ok with the breeze blowing in the teens.

I am not a train chaser but Terry and I did explore places to see the a Big Boy in Wisconsin in 2019 when it rolled through. We explored out of the way crossings and fields and highway overpasses. I thought Clyman Junction would be a great spot rolling under the still there concrete coaling station. However UP Mow asshats knocked out that idea. We found Freisland, Wi. A out of the way Amish/Mennonite community I thought would be great. We left home the day of 4014 and arrived 90 minutes earlier than 4014's scheduled time. Along with 5000+ new friends as the State and County police reported the next day. It was a whistle stop of 45 minutes. We had prepared for this seeing of 4014 by previously visiting 4017 at the National Train Museum in Green Bay and also watching the Big Boy movies they had. FAscinating to say the least. Seeing 4014 roll to a stop was literally surreal for me and Terry loved it too. Such power

I saw some videos posted yesterday including the dog getting hit. Such totally ignorant people. I saw a guy get blasted with steam venting from the engine and not sorry if it felt hot. It is a steam engine after all. I also saw a video of 2 steam farm tractors near the tracks and 4014 pulled up near them exchanging steam whistle signals! That was cool

There's a new episode of "Wreck2Restored" on YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/@Wreck2Restored  They're restoring a pair of 2' Davenport locos from the early 1900s.  I'm learning lots about machining and about how a steam loco works and is maintained.   Given the maintenance on a 2' 0-4-0, I can't imagine the maintenance required on a Big Boy!

I've been following that video also. The concept is the same except for bigger lathes, bigger mills and large overhead cranes.

The morning beverages are ready. Breakfast is assorted muffins and a fruit bowl is on the counter.

What's your plans?

It's a sunny 60 with a high of 81. Stopping by the hardware store shortly to pick up a gallon of porch stain for the front porch since it's been a years drying out. Then grocery shopping before I go nuts on the front porch. I still need to purchase 4 finials for the tops of the posts just to set it off. Bench time??

It's a rainy morning in Georgia. I have a haircut appointment today and meeting SIL for all you can eat crab legs tonight.  Yesterday I added more NBWs, mounted the tank to the flat, and hope to add the guy lines and end braces today.

Started out with a walk at 70F today with mild humidity. Not much going on today besides chores. My workbench is crying for me. I think I'll do some YouTube research on putting in water features which is a weakness of mine but will need for the next diorama.
