Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Starting off today feeling good. It looks like I'm pretty much back to normal other than some occasional ABD soreness and irritation. There's another saying that's very true.."Happy gut, happy life". Anyway, it was a great weight loss program.

Today after chores I'm going to try hard to get to the workbench. It's been 9 days since I've done any modeling. I'll try to do an update but there won't be much to show.

Larry Nice chapter. You must of posted it about when I fell I'll.

Philip I have lost almost 10 lbs, too bad it won't stay off

Dave that is very similar to what I was dealing with except I started with fever and chills. The doc did say she was checking for parasites so she may have been looking for it. Thanks for the article.

Oh, I saw the 4014 on the Nat. news last night in Berks County PA. I guess there were 9 people overcome by the heat.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Larry,  Hope the errands and 1:! stuff goes well so that you make it to the bench.  Take it easy in the heat.

James, hope your daughter has a great time at her pool party.

Curt, glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Current temperature here is 23c (74f) with a predicted high of 31c (88f)  with the humidex of 39c (102f).  At least the sun is out for now, we are supposed to get rain this afternoon.

Managed some bench time yesterday as I installed the couplers and trucks on the boxcars, last step is to add the break wheels.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

It's 47 in Georgetown, sun and clouds all day with a high of 75.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and bagel.
Keep cool.

James, glad things are well at the house and hope the barn work goes well.

Ron, I'll look at your update when I'm done here.

Curt, thanks for the second cup.
Glad you're feeling better.
A health gut is extremely important for health.
Fermented foods are the best probiotics you can eat.
Kimchi is the best fermented food and I eat some before lunch everyday.
An organic full fat plain greek yogurt is also an excellent probiotic.
Don't waste money on probiotic supplants and eat real food instead.
Also look up what foods are bad for your gut biome.

Dave, hope you find an answer for the DirectTV issue.

Philip, good news about the trees.

TomO, glad you're enjoying your trip.

Karl, anything good in town?

Jerry, enjoy your time with the grandkids.

How's everyone else?

Star and I hiked to the top of Mount Flora.
6.6 miles and 1,808' of climbing.
It's just over 13,100' in elevation at the top.
Did well getting up there stopping occasionally for 10-15 seconds to catch my breath.
No problems breathing at the top.
I think I'm ready to tackle some 14ers.
There's a tourist RR nearby that I'll visit today.
I won't go for a ride.
Just want to look around and take some pictures.

This was on the way up to Lake Isabelle.

Good morning,

Larry, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Good luck with the 1:1s today.

James, sounds like a busy day.  Good luck with the spreader.

Curt, good news that you are feeling better.  Hope you make it to the bench.

Ron, congrats on the freight car progress.

How are the rest of the crew?

It's going to be another hot one, so I'll stay indoors today.  Hopefully, upstairs work will occupy most of the day.

Have fun,
mike

Philip

Good Morning Larry and gang! Thanks for the coffee. Glad your better Curt!

Agenda of the day is to stay cool. Sweat is already running down my neck after a short trip to get the gas can filled. Bring that relief this way! Still haven't mowed. The grass is saturated with dew and then the heat kick in......I'll wait but at least have gas.

Kimchi will set it blazing! We are disbarring you as fake news forum doctor! LOL  ;D  Great photo Rick with the sunlight peaking through! Your rehired!

The kids are coming over today. 50 year old kids ;)  Gena is trimming plants in this heat.

Have a great 4th of July!

Quote from: jbvb on Today at 07:48:31 AMFirst item on my agenda is cleaning out the new bar's aisle so my ex and I can get a manure spreader in.
Somehow, this sounds like the set-up for a joke...

Still no joy with DirecTV.  I checked the coax all the way down to the basement for continuity, it passes.  Worse, whenever I try to watching on the DirecTV app, I just get a blank blue screen.  I'm totally disgusted with them, and they're in a competitive business where there are lots of alternatives.  (Wife does have to figure out how to get the Telemundo app to work, there's apparently a subscription or something, but Yo no compendo EspaƱol to figure out what they want...

I need to go to the store, will do so after doing the usual morning computer check-ins.  Then down to the basement, where it's cooler...  Looks like the heat should break here tomorrow evening.

Morning all.  Quiet in the North.  Humid and allergenic.

Morning everyone

Larry thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Try to stay cool.

James a pool party sounds nice a day like this.

Curt thanks for the second cup of coffee.
Glad your feeling better.

Ron the boxcars are beautiful.

Rick that is really a great picture.

Mike stay cool work inside today.

Philip maybe Gena and kids should stay away from you if you have gas!!!!  ;D

Dave I hope you get the cable fixed soon.

Weather in South Jersey is hot.  Right now it's 91.  Later on were going to be around 104.
It is way to warm in my room to do anything.
Maybe tonight after the sun goes down.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Rick, I forgot to mention:  I've been to Georgetown a lot, it's a favorite place.  Idaho Springs has changed a lot since I first started going to the "Narrow Gauge Holy Lands" (as my former office-mate/fellow train buff called it...)  There's a very good brewpub in Idaho Springs.  And the Georgetown Loop is a fun ride as a tourist RR, worth your time.

My first ride on the loop was behind #40, which I believe is the one engine that actually operated on the Colorado & Southern.  Many photos here, from back in the film days:  http://davebert.photos/LoopRR-04/looprr.html

Good morning from Pasadena. It's warming here into the high 80's today. The past 3 days have stayed in the 70's and for the most part was pleasant outdoor walking weather. Today is a museum day so most of the walking will be in A/C comfort. I know great planning! Thank you...

We have ridden the Georgetown loop train twice. Both times in late September when the trees were starting to change and the colors from the Devil's Gate High Bridge was very neat. We did all the tourist things on those 2 trips.

My sister's condo crew of 8 widowed ladies are having a 4th of July BBQ this afternoon starting at 5:30. Guess who was volunteered to handle the grilling!

This will be our last trip here that we spend in the hotel. The condo next door that shares a wall with my sister was for sale. It's no longer for sale!

Our 3 Uber drivers said yesterday's traffic was the worst they have seen in years. They thought today will be even worst

2 friends ordered books for pick up at the Original Whistle Stop and the OWS texted me this morning they are available to be picked up today. I will go there between the Norton Simon Museum and the BBQ. With my sister and her walker maybe 2 hours at the museum will be enough for her!

Terry just got a email from the Huntington Garden Society membership thing we purchased the other day. Fireworks at the Gardens tonight for members only at dusk and she wants to go. So we'll go!

Enjoy the day and stay COOL

Good afternoon. Dave, I'd mis-typed "barn" as "bar", fixed now, but still possibly a good joke opening. Rick, I too have ridden the Georgetown Loop train, but as you may already know the canonical photo of it is from the ground, maybe even the shoulder of Loop Drive. But "Devil's Gate Station Parking" didn't exist then, so my knowledge may be out of date.

It's 98F in the shade and my outside work is done. The manure spreader is in the barn ready for a money-challenged person to start shoveling. Only 2 stalls to clean, so it will probably be less than a full load. It'll go on the field we planted to wheat a couple of years ago.  I'm low-level happy because I got several other chores done in the process.

My wife's happy because she booked her return flight from Thailand for a good price and with only one stop.  She's arriving Thanksgiving morning, which is OK because that's not really her holiday.  But she'll be in time for the rest of the family's celebration, and I expect to fit making my Indian Pudding contribution in around picking her up.
