Good morning, all, and the very best of luck to ACL Tom. Tom O, that sounds like a flight to forget.  Also, the Museum of Transport in St. Louis has a number of interesting items, but most of their collection is either outside or stored under an open-sided shed.  One can do some railfanning at the back edge of the property, where the UP (I think) main line connection is.

TomO, I've been to the National Transportation Museum in St. Louis.
I liked it and think it's well worth a visit.

I haven't been to the Illinois Railway Museum so I can't compare the two.

How about the Mid-Continent RR Museum?  It might be good to start a discussion on museum reviews.

I'm going to be nice and say it's a nice place. Been there twice about 5 years apart before and after Covid.  It's about 50 miles north of us in North Freedom but not a place I need to go back.

The Lake Superior Railroad Museum is excellent. Enough displays, great staff and it's clean. We both love the Twin Ports of Duluth and Superior and they alone can be days of trains interest. If you like the huge ore docks of the Iron Range this is one of the places to be. Having a loaded taconite train soaring overhead as you drive under the trestles leading to the huge ore docks is not anything you'll ever forget.

Karl can tell you as he may still but used to view the videos from the Aerial lift bridge at the entrance to Duluth Harbor and viewing the ore boats is impressive. Hearing the masters salute with horns to the bridge tender thanking them for opening the lift bridge and the bridge tender acknowledgement is really neat

The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay is well worth the trip to Green Bay especially if you can cross Lake Michigan on one of the car/rv ferries. Big Boy #4017 is located there and was investigated when UP was looking to restore a Big Boy before settling on #4014. A great movie in the theater about the Big Boy fleet. Many other known locomotives and even a GM Aerotrain set. They have a steam locomotive renamed for General Dwight Eisenhower from England.

More like a shrine not a museum is Lambeau Field that if you like football is a great visit down the street from the NRM. Tours and Hall of Fame for $$$ is available

There are many small mostly located in refurbished Depots around Wisconsin. These do not have preserved rolling stock. 2 of the best are In Spooner and Mineral Point. Mineral Point, Wi and Galena, Il not too far apart maybe 30 miles were supposedly the inspirations for the Merchant Row kits now made by Walthers

Good morning everyone.

50 now in Frisco, sunny and 78 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Grain free granola for breakfast today.
Just add milk and some fresh fruit if you like.

TomO, thanks for the tips on those RR sites.

James, any progress on the switch at the museum?

Jerry, keep making progress on your walls.

Ron, if I need a backdrop painted I know who to call.

Mike, I enjoyed seeing your update.

Larry, hope you were able to fix the kitchen sprayer.

ACLTom, glad you were back in the shed and all the best to you on your upcoming procedures.

Curt, hope you get more bench time today.

How's everyone else?

Yesterdays hike ended up being longer than I had planned.
Was supposed to be 6 miles but ended up being 8 because I decided to take a different trail back.
Nothing planned for today other than some driving south.

I've been watching the highlights from the Tour de France.
It's my favorite single sporting event.

One of the views from the top of Grays Peak.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Yes the kitchen sprays is fixed; this is the second time I've had to fix it. That's quite the view; must have been breathtaking in person.

Tom sorry to hear you have to have more procedures done; I guess I didn't read your post carefully enough.

What's your plans today?

It's another sunny day @ 65 with a high of 85. With all the dry weather I'm not mowing the lawn. Rather see some weeds popping up than burnt grass; plus it saves on petrol. Hopefully some bench time anon other things today.

Have an enjoyable and safe day ahead!! Be well.

Good morning,

Rick, thanks for breakfast. Safe travels, South.

Larry, have fun at the bench.

It's a sunny morning headed to 88F.  I'll probably work on the Model T today, plus prep for polishing the Z3.

Have fun,
mike

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. That is a beautiful scenery photo.

I've completed my Sunday chores and getting ready to head to the workbench. Yesterday I put together the 4 main freight doors and mounted them on their respective walls. Today I'll start on the windows.

Tomorrow after chores is driving Dad around for his errands so I don't know if I'll get any modeling done. Friday MOH is heading to SC for the weekend and I have a phone appointment with my PCP going over bloodwork.

That's it from here.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Rick, Larry, Mike, Curt and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, that's quite a view.

Current weather is 22c (71f) with another day of sun.

Spent some time cleaning off the layout and I'm happy to report that I can run trains again.  ;D  It took longer that I wanted, but finding permanent homes for the stuff on the layout took awhile and some reorganizing.  Now I can spend time on Projects.  One of them is making shirting to for around the layout as the layout will open in October for the National Capital Region Open House, which happens every year.

Today is errand and chore day so I'm note sure if anything will get done today, maybe this evening.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick. however, I'll just have some cold OJ this morning.

Pam has a friend-girl coming over so the two of them will be pool lizards today.

I'm taking that time to clean up the train shed so I can get back to more important stuff like modeling and building models.

Have a safe and happy Sunday everyone.

Good morning all,

Thanks for the coffee Rick.

Windows are all printed finally. 12 total. I still have 4 doors to scratch build.

Another wash out last night. Thursday we had 8"...ENOUGH!  The tomato's are finally turning red. 58 plants this year. The peppers crop is doing poorly with all the rain. Corn is doing well. The rest is buried in a muddy soup bucket and weeds :o

Quiet on the beach last evening after a day of home bound 1:1 and supervising the tree guys that thinned out the dead cedars in the view from the deck. The Doll picked up a pair of hanging plants and I hung brackets for them on the deck post

Out picking up final stuff before the influx of family folks.

I still peak in at the Duluth cameras.  Not having too much luck with timing of boats transit times. Sure some neat horn salutes when they transit beneath the lift bridge. I'd love to go there but it's a good 6-8 hours from our Northern Command. Boat watching around the SOO locks is fun too.
