Current weather is 20c (68f) and partly cloudy.  Had a great walk with Gracie yesterday morning and ended up going on a much longer walk than originally planned.  Watched the F1 race and worked on the turntable.  Seeing as the work week is starting construction will slow down during the week.

I did Saturday afternoon. $10 for Powerball or 5 lines and 1 number on all that in that drawing. $10 for Mega Millions for Tuesday I think so there is hope yet. It's been a few months since I purchased a Powerball tick and 1st time since Mega went to $2 per line.

The daughter told me when she texted this afternoon I can do whatever we want to that space. I need another project like another hole in the head but, I have 2 ideas...

Mega Millions tickets jumped to $5 a year or two ago, right?  That's a -terrible bet- compared to PowerBall.  At a $5 bet and odds of winning of 1/290,000,000 , the jackpot would have to be $290,000,000* $5 * 2.  (The inverse of the odds, times the bet, doubled to accommodate the difference between the annuity value that they announce, and the actual lump sum value that you'd want for calculating payoff of the bet.)  Yeah, if you work that out, a break-even MegaMillions jackpot would have to be about $3 BILLION dollars!

Since PowerBall has roughly the same odds, but is only a $2 bet, it's a much better bet mathematically.  The break-even jackpot is only roughly $1.2 BILLION... 

(An even bet would be the amount of money you'd have to win to equal the amount to buy all of the numbers.)

Well color me stupid. I just looked at my $10 ticket. Yep, 2 lines! Never noticed that when I purchased it. No wonder I haven't purchased one in so long I forgot when!

Good morning. It's 70f degrees heading to 85 and a heat index of 90 which will be tolerable. All storms and rains TOTALLY missed our area. So thanks for the messages but we are safe. But unfortunately if you check the news the storm was devastating to the Appleton/Menasha area or about 35 miles south of Green Bay. I know from operating sessions in that area a few folks.

We need rain but the storms or rains missed and really never even got close. The morning station my wife watches kept saying the weather would hit us! The WeatherChannel radar app I feel is pretty good and we were barely on the edge of the front when I looked yesterday morning.

I am outside watching the granddog run around. We've been out here since 6:05 and with the wind blowing at 10mph it's very nice.

We go to see the Odyssey at 2pm. Just under 3 hours and up to 25 minutes of trailers. So we will miss the granddaughter's 5:30 Miracle League baseball game. We will however see the grandson's hockey game at 8:40. Dinner is in between though my appetite seems diminished. The plan was an Italian place we've been meaning to try since we moved here. High $$$ casual that has great reviews. I'm particular about Italian food as mom was second generation here and a great cook. However my maternal grandmother and great grandmother's cooking was so supreme it was unreal. Sunday at grandma's for dinner was an event. But today we'll see. Maybe it's been the heat but food since last week has held no anticipation for me.

Coffee is in the silver bullet looking thing. All sodas are cold in the cooler over there at the end of the  counter. Juices and egg sausage on English muffins is today's lead item

Tom O thanks for the coffee and breakfast this morning. Sometimes between the heat and getting older' yes it's happening, I find my appetite sin't what it used to be; just the way it is I guess.

What are your plans for the day.

It's a partly sunny 70 with a high of 75. Rained about 5:30 am when I rolled out of bed for about an hour or so which is welcomed as we can use the rain; may rain on and off the next few days so They say. Hairs cut later this morning; that'll take all of 15 minutes. Maybe some bench time later on.

Larry, it takes longer to get my beard trim that it does to get my hair cut.    Hope you make it to the bench.

Current weather is 19c (66f) with rain drops falling on my head.  Last night we had 🎶🎶 thunderbolts and lightning, very very frighting 🎶🎶, at least is was for Gracie.  She was so frightened she was trembling when she jump up on the bed and curled up to me.

No modeling last night and I have a meeting tonight with the SLD (NMRA) executive seeing as I'm now on it.  We are meeting tonight to discuss next season activities.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I celebrated by doing a 13.4 mile hike with, 2'100' of climbing on the Lone Pine Lake Trail in Rocky Mountain NP.
Spent the rest of the day doing nothing.
Today's plan is to head back towards town and hit the gym and pick up a few things at Walmart.

The photography gods weren't on my side yesterday.
I grabbed my usual landscape camera before starting the hike but it wouldn't turn on.
I tried three different batteries with the same result.
Fortunately I have a second camera and put one of the batteries in it and that camera turned on.
So it isn't a battery issue.
I'll play with it later and hope I can get it going.
Then when I took my first picture on the trail I got the "No Card In The Slot" message.     
So I had to report to using the phone.

That's Grand Lake in the distance and where the trailhead is.

The diesel did make it to the layout.

New one, front an Atlas Fairbanks Morse Trainmaster. Atlas Alco  RS-36. Both have factory Loksound dcc.

No plans. We're thankful for ~.6" of rain the last 24 hours. No more for several days, lower humids and mid 80s until the weekend.

It's a bright morning for a change, hot, too. My Sister is visiting after a Baltic cruise.  We took care of her dogs while she was away.  She will leave this afternoon.  Tonight is lodge, so I doubt if I'll get much done upstairs.

Thanks for opening and breakfast TomO.

Chilling at daughter's house. Yesterday was very busy and stressful, but the stuff got done. Workers are at work.

I posted on Tom's 2nd health thread in the Baggage car area.

Tom had a successful surgery and was home that day by 1200. He has several days of post surgery recovery. He starts on 3 August with his 40 radiation treatments. Pam has promised to keep me informed.
