I agree with the Mesa Verde recommendation.

The ruins and the rocks provide a lot of interesting photo opportunities.  

Rain today in SE NH, continuing through the afternoon.  We could end up with 2 1/2" of much-needed rain.  But it's warm and of course muggy, and that pattern looks like it will be here all week.  I guess that's payback from the run of perfect weather we had last month.  

Back to the train room, I'm going to cut down the coal dock a bit to get it to fit better.

Well, guess what? It's raining again today, third day in a row.  Current temperature is 18c (64f) with a high expected of 23c (73f).  No workbench yesterday, took a break and worked on my stamp collection and played with some AI, now that is a rabbit hole.  I did come up with this though.


It's me sitting at my workbench with my latest project.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, pastry, OJ, and soda.

Well, while feeding the animals I discovered the dried worms were infested with ants (thankfully not red ants) and they were in the parrot food bin also (both in garage). On quick inspection it looks like they made a large nest somewhere. This is the first time this has happened in more than 20 years. So I get to deal with that along with Dad's bed today.

The good times just keep coming. At least SIL's sister is taking the old bed.

I did spend a couple of hours at the workbench yesterday, but probably none today.

How's everyone else?

I had a great day yesterday in Silverton.
Took lots of pictures at the narrow gauge yard there and I'll start a thread on that eventually.
Got lucky and was able to watch as they welded track together with thermite.
I shot a video of that along with videos of the diesel and steam trains arriving.
Today I'll head into Durango and look around the yard there.

There are many marmots living in the mountains.
They make a chirping sound that sounds just like your smoke alarm when it needs a new battery.

Rick, enjoy your adventures in Durango. Be sure to take the engine shops tour if they still do that.

We are participating at the local "National Night Out" at church this evening. The event is designed to honor first responders. There will be plenty of burgers and hotdogs and homemade desserts.

I saw that Bernie Kempinski's spectacular O Scale Civil War Machine Shop won Best in Show at NMRA.  He was building that at the same time I was working on my machine shop, we swapped a couple emails on the topic.

Today's goal is to add the NBWs to the coal dock, and then add coal and weathering.  Weather today is much nicer than yesterday.  Sunny, less humid, high of 85.  The weather app says we got 4.4" of rain.  I don't think we got anywhere near that much, but every drop was appreciated.

It's a sunny 65 with a high of 84. Ellie's Doc's visit was informative. She's been having some numbness on one side from time to time for several minutes then it goes away. The Doc ruled out MS but thinks it may be from migraines so the next step is an MRI just to be sure when one can be scheduled. Have a dentist cleaning this morning and checkup; o joy. Not sure about the rest of the day.

Hello from the Cheese State! 61f degrees now and 83 later. Possible rain chances keep getting pushed back, instead of this afternoon our best chance today is after 11pm. The smoke haze scheduled for yesterday did not show up.

The grandson came over to pay. He was $80 short for his loan. Asked why he was short and he explained the weather and the loss of 1 client. Asked him how much is a bucket of golf balls at the driving range he practices at 4 days a week and in the last 2 weeks how many holes of golf did he play. He told me and my reply was practicing and playing was more important than paying your loan. The bank charges late fees and if your past due enough times without catching up they take your equipment. He said your my grandfather. I said in business I'm your loan officer. He'll come by next Monday with the missing balance. His mom texted me that he cancelled out of playing 2 rounds this week. Kept the practice sessions though.

We went Troll hunting yesterday. Found one of Thomas Dambo's huge trolls 84 miles from us in Wauwatosa, Wi outside of Milwaukee. Moma Rosa is #11 for us. There are 4 more in Clinton, Iowa, 3 in Dayton, Ohio and 1 in Lexington, Kentucky that we want to see weather permitting by 10/1. Instead of an overnight trip that trip maybe a 3 night out. There's the Air National Museum in Dayton we've both wanted to see for years. Photos below

The trip to see Moma Rosa (troll) yesterday was a last minute decision. Today at 1:45 we will go see the latest Spider-Man Movie then at 7:10, a stop at Michael's Crafts, dinner at Jason's Deli and finally this evening the grandson plays hockey.

Sunny and warm in Michigan this morning, should last the day.  A less than 50% chance of rain tomorrow then less past that. 

The Doll sprayed for bugs in her daughter's gourd garden and I changed the bag on one of the jap beetle traps, something ate the bottom out of the first one. 

Saw a huge agricultural drone spraying a field N of me early in the week, the thing was nearly the size of a miniCooper.  A 3 man support crew were sitting on the roof of a good sized 5th wheel commercial trailer on lawn chairs operating it.  Big investment but surely less than a turbo aircraft, there is one of them operating the area, too.  I imagine the "real" farmers are having bugs, too. That drone sure made my DJI Air2s (Chinese Communist Spy tool, now banned from import) look puny.

Decals put on a hopper yesterday between tasks. 

That "Marmot" sure resembles the nasty rats that we call ground hogs around here.
