Good to wake up with an update from Tom (and of course another great photo from Rick.)  Well, I packed up and returned my Creality laser cutter to Amazon, and ordered an XTool replacement.  That should arrive Tuesday, so I'll leave the laser assembly & test set-up in the garage. 

After the cleaners leave, I hope to get to the train room to make some progress somewhere.  Probably should clean up after my messy tree assembly attempt.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Nice photo and safe travels. Some of the soft Maple trees are starting to turn here as well. Always like Fall even though I'm not too crazy about what follows.

What's the rest of you up to?

It's a sunny, finally, day @ 67 with a high of 78. Friday errands to run shortly then some more bench time. Lawn mowing is on tap for the afternoon. Good news Ellie's head MRI came back clean; no tumors, no sings of mini-strokes, and very little brain shrinkage....and yes the brain shrinks in size was you age...who knew. The Doc's convinced her numbness is related to migraine headaches which she gets occasionally.

Good morning from another humid morning in Wisconsin. 75f degrees heading to 90 with the humidity reading still at 99% since I woke a couple hours ago.

The work session went well. We got the rest of his Masonite cut into the various fascia sizes all carefully marked. He said that his 2 sons are visiting this weekend and they will move the support tables and table saw into his garage this weekend. Better to have 30 year olds move them than us 70 and 60 year olds! I then took his framework measurements and cut the framing pieces for the 60' Wenatchee yard that will fit into where the table saw has sat the last 3 years. His sons will also move that saw. His daughter next week will start to paint his backdrop behind Wenatchee directly onto the drywall backdrop. Framing will start most likely the end of October but he said he'll not rush the daughter who is on maternity leave. Grandmom and g/d will watch the newbie upstairs while she relaxes painting the backdrop down in the train room. He said they are looking forward to that so no rushing her to finish!

The reason Terry and I are not starting our usual September/October travels is the weather. The plan was Clinton, Iowa, Dayton, Ohio, Louisville, the Chrystal Bridges Art Mueseum in Bentonville, Ar then Texas, Scottsdale and finally Maui. The forecasted weather temperatures just were not worth the risk and discomfort of Terry's health. Even Maui temperature and the always present humidity are forecast above normal which is disappointing. January looks like a good month for temperatures but we are not planning anything now, everything will be last minute. Right now we will look at the forecast and stick to day trips and 1 or 2 day overnight trips.

We can get to Clinton, Iowa in a couple hours. There are 4 of Thomas Dambo giant trolls there. There are 3 more in Dayton, Ohio plus the Air Museum and 1 in Louisville. Not sure how or when but if the weather breaks we will head out

Another poor night's sleep due to reflux from ravioli and meatballs for supper. I won't be having leftovers for lunch.

Yesterday after several hours I got half the dock planked. The process  is much slower than expected, but that's OK.

Today MOH takes off for Sarasota for a quilting class/ meet. She will return Sunday. I will continue to work on the dock today.

We're in the midst of a long line of t-storms since around 0400 or so. Storms go way back across the lake toward TomO. 7"/hour rain rate at times, and lightning and thunder rolling along. FLOODING warning just issued.


Glad I mowed late yesterday afternoon until nearly dark. Too wet to finish today.

No plans yet. Inside for sure.

Speaking of Russ Greene:  He was at the Springfield show, and had a nice display/diorama of his bridge segments.  I went over to BESTTrains, bought some cast metal alligators, and stuck one under the bridge on Russ' diorama. "There, I cajunized this for you."  He and his wife loved it!

Russ did some custom work for my previous layout.  He's one of the Really Nice People I've met in the model railroad world.

God morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, glad you found a hiking trail yesterday.  Rick, what we consider cold here is relative. 😊  Temperatures here have been below normal for this time of year, but I haven't used a sweater or jacket yet.  We consider it being cool around 49f, cold at 25f and freaking cold below -40f.  After spending a summer in Florida, my idea of hot has changed dramatically. 😊

Tom, nice to hear from you again, glad you are doing well considering. I bet you will be back in the shed before you know it.

Dave, hope the laser issues get fixed with the new laser.  My laser is also set-up in the garage.  I need to find time to play with it.  

Larry, hope the errands go quickly and you get to the bench.

TomO, hope the weather breaks so you and Terry can get some traveling in.

Curt, hope the dock gets finished today.

Terry, nice to see you drop in.

Karl, we have been lucky here with those storms going around us.

Current weather is 21c (71f) and partly cloudy with 30% chance of rain.  Got a little work on the layout, mostly maintenance stuff, we shall see what tonight brings.

Good morning from my place. Karl's map would show me right below by a smidge from Madison. Most of Friday we were surrounded by thunder and radar kept showing us in the middle of a C with the storms forming the letter but never touching us in the middle. Just under 1/2" of rain in the gauge this morning. Some of the areas west of us received a few inches of rain.

We have a dense fog warning and I cannot see the white horse fencing maybe 100 yards away. Our high this afternoon has been lowered to 80 from 91f degrees by the WeatherChannel app and the local TV channel website! The humidity stays high all day.

Depending on the weather we may get outside with Terry. I know we've been thinking of ridining the horses this weekend. The cooler temperatures might let us do that. Riding the trails in the woods will keep the sun off us. I haven't ridden since April, Terry in June which is tough on her. For years she was riding every day till she got sick in 2025.

56 in Rock Springs, sunny with winds in the PM and a high of 77.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Assorted boxes of cereal are out with some fresh fruit to add in if you wish.

Ron, cold temps are one thing, but it's the addition of strong winds that can make it unbearable.

Larry, very good news news about Ellie.
With the things I read in the news I would say brain shrinkage is more prevalent in all age groups now a days.

Made it to Wyoming.
Today I'll drive another couple of hours to get close to the next planned hike.
Good chance there's no internet there and there's more than 1 hike I want to do there so you might not hear from me in a while.

This was at the trailhead of the Hahns Peak Trail.
At the very top you can see the fire lookout we hiked to.



The last 1/4 mile was tricky because it was all loose rock and scree.
Much easier going up than down.

Thanks for opening TomO. Hope the horse ride goes well. I haven't been on a horse since I was a boy.

Thanks for breakfast Rick. The loose rock hill looks dangerous unless you're careful. Safe travels to your next spot.

Started out the day with a walk at 77F and moderate humidity. This was my first walk since my previous back strain. Yesterday I finished planking the large dock. I have some touch up and then it's done for now. The legs will be added later.

Today after the platform I'll continue on to a small shack that sits on the pier with the barnicals (sp) on the pilings.

MOH will be back late afternoon tomorrow and then I will have direction in my life again!

Larry great news about Ellie. I know you must of been worried.

Tom O. hope you guys get to ride today and the weather cooperates.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Those rocks look scary and I would imagine going down would be much more challenging...a case where gravity is NOT your friend. Yes we were very pleased with the MRI results!!

Curt enjoy your build. I tried not to dwell on her MRI but rather wait for the results; easier said than done.

What's your plans for the day?

It's a sunny and less humid 62 with a high of 73. Not much going on here today; probably a "chill'in" day with some bench time thrown in for good measure.
