I visited the Georgetown Loop RR in Georgetown, CO. This is where the Devil's Gate Station is located.
I took picture of the steam loco there and shot video as the train left and went over the Devil's Gate Bridge.
After the train was gone I drove to the Silver Plume Depot where the train ride ends.
I got there just as the train was arriving.
Next I headed to Idaho Springs.
As I was driving I spotted an old mining area and pulled of the highway and took some pictures there.
Then made it to downtown Idaho Springs and took pictures of the Argo Mine.

The Argo Tunnel tour is definitely worth it.   They've painted it since I remember driving by, it's great to see it maintained.

I used to know the name of that mine outside of Idaho Springs, Coronado?  Columbia?  Something like that.  It's much reduced from the first time I saw it.

Looks like nice weather...

Dave, I had to look it up, it's the old Stanley Mine.
There were some rusty corrugated builds on the other side of the road but couldn't get good pictures of them.

Weather here has been perfect.

Thanks Curt.
No, I've never been to either one.
I've driven past the Argo Mine but didn't go in.

Nice photos, Rick.  When I visited in the '90s, it was not too long after the Devil's Gate bridge had been rebuilt. I recall that as a National Guard effort, but didn't find any details online.  Good to see paint on the Argo, it hardly had any back then.

Actually, credit where credit is due:  It was Navy Reserve Seebee units that built the bridge.  And full credit to the Boettcher Foundation for funding the restoration.

Great pictures Rick, I've been to the Georgetown loop twice, once in 1991 when the train was pulled by a shay that are now at the Colorado Railway Museum.  The second time was in the mid 2010's when the train was pulled by a locomotive that came from Hawaii.
