It's has been an easy build so far as the engineering is spot on with very little fitting or sanding required.

The crew is working overtime to get this done as the yard crew almost lost one locomotive into the void forgetting that the original turntable went missing, the cause of which is still under investigation.

Well my week at work is done and I have now time to get back to the turntable build.   So without further ado, lets get to it.

I think from this point forward I'll show each step as I complete them instead of saving two or three steps and then posting them.  The reason for this is that I can post while I let the stain dry for the next step.

Part 8 - Bridge Support Wheel Assemblies




First step is to stain the parts.  Shown here is the wheel support (at top) and the pieces required to build one wheel housing.





The sides and end of the wheel housing glued to the wheel support.





The wheel and axle installed in the wheel housing.





The axle capture plates installed.  These are a very snug fit so that the axle stays in place.





One completed wheel assembly.





The above steps were completed to complete the second wheel support assembly.

Part 9 - Adding the Bridge Stringers

The instructions call for the stringers to be glued in place using one of the stay wires as a spacer, then turn everything upside down and weigh it down to keep it flat and square.  I figured this would be frustrating and complicated to keep square so I took a more measured approach.





I started by gluing the outer stringers to the outside of the bridge.  I clamped them in place making sure that the outside stringers were flush with the edge of the bridge.





I used some scrap wood and clamps to the center section of the bridge to make sure that the stringers were flush with the bridge deck.  This insures that the bridge will be flat when the glue dries.





The outer stringers glued to the deck.





I measured the diameter of the stay wires that were supplied with the kit.  The diameter of the stay wires were 0.032 diameter.  Rather than use the stay wire as the spacer, I didn't have any .030 styrene that was suitable so I cut some 0.010 and 1.020 sheet styrene in strips to use as spacers.





I then clamped the inside stringers to the outside stringers using the spacers.
