Pushers?  I never even thought of that.  That is a small detail that would make a great addition to the turntable.  Once I get the area completed I'll add them.  Thanks for asking.  :)

What I did was to remove the TT drive, so I can easily remove the bridge when working in that area.  Eventually, I'll go back and re-install the drive.  And I do need to add pushers on mine; I realized when I was positioning my coal dock that I needed to make room for those to swing and clear the dock.

Right now it is easy to pop the turntable out of its hole.  The plan is to do what you did, remove the motor when I scenic the deck.  Once the deck is scenic, I'll replace the motor and power it up.
