Morning, I'm out picking up some blueberry muffins this morning for breakfast.  Gonna be a cool day in these parts both today and tomorrow.  Except for a little yard work i might bust out the airbrush for some more painting later. A photo from the Chicago area back in the day

The crane is for the really big catfish.  

Sunny and headed to 84 later.  Humidity still in the 90s.  

My wife returns today so I won't need to continue entertaining the dog for long.

Good Morning Folks;

It may be a little cooler up north but not so much here in Florida, just that time of year. This past week sure went fast. Made some progress on the pickle factory, got some electric issues on the pool pump fixed and overall just enjoyed life. Hope to do more of that today. Thought I would share a photo of the pickle factory as it will look on the canal scene when all finished. I am making almost everything including windows, doors, lights and such using the 3D printer. The laser cutter has had a workout too making realistic wood floors, staircase parts and such. I figure I am about 1/2 done.

Well, if you move to Florida, don't complain about summer heat and humidity     In exchange, Yankees shouldn't complain about snow in the winter.  

I'm back from the exercise machine, and will head down to the Train Room after lunch.  No Scotch Club this week, so I'll get a longer Saturday than usual.   Plan today is to add shrubberies, etc, along the banks where I planted the line of trees last week.  

Did I mention I bought a laser cutter?  It'll arrive in a week or so.  I thought about buying a small lathe or mill, but ultimately decided I'd get more immediate use from a laser cutter.  (I've done laser kit design before, so I have some experience with the concepts and part of the process.  We out-sourced our actual cutting to a pro with a laser.)  I think I know what my first actual project will be (a hexagonal watchman structure.)  But first I need to learn Lightburn.

Looking forward to your laser experiences, Dave.  I find the drawing aspect of these fancy toys is the biggest tripwire to success at it. My resin printing has been a challenge to me. I've marveled at Jim D's ability.

In my very limited experience (from the laser kit I helped design 20 years ago, vs using SketchUp for a class project), there's a big difference between 2D 'object graphics' programs and 3D modeling programs.  Part of my problem with SketchUp was an inability to consistently go from a 2D to 3D perspective (I'd want to lay out a wall on a 2D view and then 'push the window openings', etc.)  The other problem was a lot of bugs... 

But those who have used 2D CAD programs, which tend to have a different interface than what I learned 40 years ago in MacDraw  can move to 3D CAD more easily. 

But for structure modeling, it's pretty much drawing, sizing, and positioning rectangles of precise sizes.
