Howdy.

I hope everyone gets plenty of rest today.

We had quite a windstorm last night. So far no damage besides fallen limbs.

Cars and coffee was very nice. I walked around for about an hour before I got too hot and began to sweat. Someone brought a really clean Fiero. I was a sophomore in high school when these first came out. They were way cool back then.

Later.

Morning All,

Jaime, I guess we're about the same age because those Fieros seemed the same as a Ferrari to me around that time. I'm up early to get up and out on my bike before the insane Florida summer heat hits...I'm eager to get back, have some pancakes with the grands, hustle them out and get to work on my trains.

I mixed up 4 batches of Ground Goop last night, so there are minimal hurdles to progress today. Lou Sassi's recipe included multiple ingredients but I have gradually, over the decades, just boiled it down to earth-colored paint and Sculptamold, mixed to an oatmeal consistency. It's surprisingly neat to work with, serves as a mistake eraser and a nice bonding base for ground cover. I immediately apply multiple materials while it's wet and then soak it with 50/50 Elmer's & water to seal the deal...I'm pumped up because it's one of the steps that REALLY shows progress. I love the stuff because you can make a bunch of it, store it in tupperware containers and it will remain usable for months (in my surprised experience). If it's a little dried out, you can just stir in a bit of water and bring it back to life.

Looks like the sun's up...I'm out. Have a good day!

Morning all,

My brother owned a Fiero years ago.  Wishes he still had it.  He does have a '71 Trans Am.  8)

John, that's an interesting Ground Goop recipe.  I use the original Sassi type and it is great to work with.

Sunny with a high of 80 later and not as humid.  I may have to mow later, we'll see.

Finishing the two freight cars today.

(The late) Craig Bisgeier had a Saturn Sky, and he took me for a ride in it once when I was visiting.  That, and a ride in a VW Sirocco back in '78, is the sum of my experience in sports cars.  (Not a car guy..)

I had a batch of Ground Goop that "got weird".  I applied it, and when I came back the next day, it looked like a sponge!  Somehow the recipe had trapped bubbles that broke.  Since I'm not modeling that kind of volcanic rock, and since the Goop was hard, I had a rather difficult time recovering from that.

Anyway...  Our Laird o'the Malts called Sunday Scotch Club for this afternoon.  He's back from a trip with some new stuff to try.  In the meantime, I should get some time in the train room, probably working on the liftout scenery section.

Cuse, was it this one?

G'mornin from the UP, temp in 60s. Chilled a fair bit overnight.

A friend in "the Day" had a Fiero. Neat little cars. I recall the backlit name plate on them. I don't recall riding in one. I remember getting a call to investigate when a young lady struck a huge piece of tree trunk fell off a trailer in the middle of the road. Tracked down the tree guy and wrote him a couple tickets. I'd imagine that particular Fiero is not at Coffee and Cars. Tree guy not the shiniest rock in the pond.  :P  He fell out of a tree a couple years later taking shortcuts with safety as he seemed prone to do. Not sure he made it to 40.

Just informed of a yard sale. Going.

Enjoy the day. It's 63!in the car.  :D

Good morning, all. It's been a cloudy, damp weekend in the lower Merrimack Valley, only about 72F as it approaches noon.  Warmer and sun forecast for the next few days, though I expect I'll have to spend a couple working on the double slip switch. My apple harvest continues, but I also need to finish the Gravely's carb and work on things for the upcoming NER convention.

Morning all,

I remember being rear ended by a Fiero (same color) while stopped at a light. I was driving a Ford Ranger at the time. The rear bumper of my pickup truck ended up pointing straight down towards the ground. Basically, the only damage to my truck was the brackets that that the bumper was mounted on were bent. Can't say the same for the Fiero. Oh, it was a hit and run to boot. When the police came and asked me what color the car was that hit me, I simply handed him headlight cover that was left behind. As I recall the driver was already facing a DUI charge and was likely DUI when he hit me. I heard (never confirmed it though) that the Judge gave him a choice of facing time in jail or enlisting in the service.

Got work up the energy to do my PT exercises and then maybe some workbench time later. I'm still painting a batch of 3D printed figures I purchased from FOS awhile back.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Mini-Prints informing me that they had to impose a 50% tax on their products thanks to the new tariffs. :P

Have a great one!

Bob the FOS figures I got during my last build seemed overly large, at least to me.
