Howdy. 

I trust you all are off to a great Labor Day weekend. 

I managed to get all my yardwork done before the weekend so I am free to do whatever my wife tells me to 

If you're ever out in East Tennessee, do yourself a huge favor and go to Dollywood and ride their genuine honest-to-goodness narrow gauge steam train. It's definitely worth the visit. 

The National Narrow Gauge Convention in the Twin Cities wraps up today. We surely need some news about it.

Good morning, Jaime and those on the way in.  Cloudy with a forecast high of 70F on the NH seacoast.  I'm off to Seashore in a bit to show my ex-BinL and grandkids around.  Not sure what I'll do this evening, but there's plenty on the list.

I looked around, the closest I've ever been to Dollywood was somewhere on US 74, following the Murphy Branch a few years before the park opened in 1986. My first wife's grandmother was living in Kingsport. Since she passed I've never had reason to return to TN.

The one time I visited Gatlinburg was before Dollywood was established, back when the theme park was called Silver Dollar City...  Apparently the loco roster is all WP&Y survivors.  I remember the Smokey Mountains as really beautiful.  A couple years later, I was in a convoy running over the mountains on I-40, and that's a good drive, too (but not in an open jeep!).  My driver rigged up a CB to the auxiliary radio antenna in one vehicle, and we tracked the position of the main convoy by talking to truckers. 

Scotch Club today will be superseded by some other activities, including the local Greek Festival.  We go for the food (although my wife has some Greek ancestry and a Greek name, after her grandmother.)  After time on the exercise machine, I'll do clean-up in the basement.

Great pics everyone. 

Went to Dollywood or Silver Dollar City in the 70s, I can't recall which it was at the time.   We rode the train and the ex got coal ash in her eye, she didn't appreciate my marveling on how rare that was in that time period.  I've never seen anything about their roster, that would be interesting to learn about their steam facility.

Grey and damp here this morning but "cool", upper 60s. Looks like it could rain again, over 3" yesterday.

My SPARTANS won their opening game last night looking decent in the process.

Geek squad coming today, so...who knows, I was told we(I) are taking them for pizza at some point.

Hey Raymo, any idea where "Bunker Hill Lager" photo was taken?  Looks like that's an overpass over tracks.  Interesting mix of brick and wood structures.  I love the beer motto, too.
