Morning Gents,

The morning beverages are all set to go at the end of the counter. Breakfast is homemade biscuits with sausage gravy along with a side of hash browns fried up in bacon grease.

Mike nice you made it upstairs and enjoy the Mrs. return and lunch with your daughter.

The Model Train Show is coming up next month in Syracuse, N.Y. so I have a question I'd like to pose two the group. Usually Bar Mills has a huge display. The question is have any of you had experience with their kits: how's the quality, do they go together well, and how are the details. Thought I. might buy one of their kits for the Winter Challenge for 2027. Any insight would be appreciated.

What's your plans today?

It's a cloudy 48 with a high of 59 with little chance of rain. This afternoon, if the weather holds, will be grinding up leaves which there are lots of. Never made it to the bench yesterday with the furnace cleaning happening. Everything looks good for that and it runs well using very little oil; which is a good thing considering the price now.

Have an enjoyable and safe day!! Be well and hope anyone's medical conditions clear up and get resolved sooner than latter.

Good morning everyone.

49 now, rain most of the day with a high of 55.

Mike, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Glad you made it upstairs yesterday.

Larry, thanks for the second cup.
I've built a couple of HO Bar Mills Kits.
I thought they were very good.
Details not as good as Bretts but they are more than good enough.

Jerry, that's good news from the doctor.

TomO, hope it's all good news for Terry at the doctors.

Dave, good luck finding a new eye doctor.

Curt, that was a long nap and hope the surgery center calls soon.

What's everyone else doing?

Nothing happened here yesterday and with today's rain the same will happen today.
It was interesting that I good a bill from the hospital here in SD.
I went to their web site to pay and it said I'm paid in full but it shows the bill being mailed.

More fall here.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Mike and a second breakfast Larry.

Just back from dropping Dad off for his senior trip to Mt. Dora (about 40 minutes away). Today I have to load up the van with MOH's crafts and we're meeting up with her BFF for supper. Saturday is the 39th annual FL skunk show. Everyone is invited.

Also today I need to tighten the nut (unthreading) on faucet in the kitchen.

Well that's it for now.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Clouds and rain in MI.

Larry, that is a wild change of oil price... :o   I bought propane for this winter at $1.99/gallon.  Same as last year.  I don't know the"miles" per gallon comparison in oil vs propane.  ::)

I have done a couple Bar-Millls kits, HO, I compare quality and style with Foscale's kits.  Well done.  I've never 'invested' in a high end kit, FSM or others.

Good Morning Folks;

Rick thank you for the picture, great way to start the day. I got the Thursday chores started, garbage out, kitchen clean, dishwashing going so enjoying my coffee and catching up on what is going on.

I was up until Midnight working on the pickle factory as I had plans to show it at the Sunshine Region NMRA Convention starting today in Ocala. I figured I'd finish up today if I pushed hard and have it there by tomorrow. This morning it hit me, why? I had begun to do stuff that resulted in me saying 'that's good enough' and I was doing that often. Time to stop. The model is not going, it will get done right , not just 'good enough'. So that clears my day some. I will get some work done on it today, mostly getting rid of the 'good enough' stuff. When it is finished I will simply post some photos here.

Well time to walk the dogs, have a great day.

Rick and Karl thanks for commenting on the Bar Mills kits. I'll go their website and see if anything in O scale strikes my fancy then see if they are at the show.

Karl consider yourself fortunate; propane here is about $5.44/gal. so I'll stick with fuel oil for now. It's either price gouging or our idiot Governor have her fingers in the pie.

Good morning crew,

Larry, I remember reading some folks had difficulty with Bar Mills REA o scale buildings as the roof lines were hard to attach. Other than that nothing on the radar. They started as a HO laser cut sign company and the biz snowballed into a premier modelers go-to under Art Fahie and wife who retired recently.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Mike and Larry.

Mike, glad you finally made it upstairs and made some progress.  Enjoy lunch with your daughter.

Larry, I have bought a few Bar Mill kits and assembled them in N scale, HO scale and O scale.  They go together well and the instructions are pretty good.  They are not too complicated and I would recommend them.

Rick, I am loving those fall pictures.  It's nice to get a bill that is already paid, just file it as paperwork.

Curt, sounds like you van gets a lot of use, enjoy dinner tonight.

Karl, Have a great day.

Jim, I've run into the "it's good enough" to meet a deadline and have never been happy with the finished product, so I have dropped that approach.  Now it gets done when it gets done.

Philip, Have a great day.

Current weather here is 8c (46f) and mostly sunny.  Well, I finally found the intermittent short on the layout.  Turns out it was the turnout that I installed that leads to the staging yard.  Not sure why it's intermittent, it's the first turnout that I built that has experienced this problem.   I have removed it from the layout and it is currently on the workbench.  A quick inspections shows that all the gaps are there.  Tonight I will spend some time trying to figure out why.  If I can't find it in a short time, I'll just build another one. ;D   I need to get the layout running by Saturday's open house.  Nothing like a very close deadline to make things interesting.  ;D

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

I have to take the car into the garage again. There's a plastic piece the brake pedal pushes against that broke last night. I had to take off a battery cable to turn off the brake lights and not drain the battery overnight.

But, the big news is MOH decided it was time to get a new vehicle, so we now have a used 2026 KIA Carnival with 8k miles on it. It will be MOH's primary vehicle for rescue stuff.

Progress on diorama is at a crawl lately.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast this morning. Great news on the new, to you, vehicle; only 8K is a good deal. Get to the bench when you can; that's why it's called a hobby.

What's your plans today?

It's currently 60 with a high of 67 and more rain forecasted. Have the usual errands to run which includes a trip tp Wegmans for an Rx and a few odds and ends. I ordered the details for the boat yesterday but I'll continue with the details for the building in the meantime. Hope to have this diorama wrapped up by 1/27 or there about.

Have a great and safe day!! Be well and heal up.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Congrats on the purchase of a new ride.

Larry, sounds like the boat is progressing well.

Ron, good luck with finding the short and other open house preparation.

Jim, good luck at the show.

Rick, interesting hospital billing. Good news it is paid in full.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a hazy morning, headed to 84F again.  This afternoon I'm headed to two layouts in preparation for the Piedmont Pilgrimage that happens every year.  The pilgrimage is a tour of all the premier train layouts in the Atlanta area.  I'm helping run trains and greet guests.  It should be fun.

Have fun,
mike

Rick

Good morning everyone.

It's 40 and very windy right now.
Wind will continue into the afternoon then around three the sun is supposed to come out with a high of 53.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Congratulations on the new ride.

Larry, have fun at Wegmans.

Mike, I forgot to answer your audio question yesterday.
Only thing I've bought are AirPods which sound pretty decent.
I do have my eye on an integrated amp/DAC/streamer and a pair of speakers.
Will be a little while before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

Ron, hope you find the short.

Philip, there you are.  :)

Jim, good luck at the convention and have fun.

Karl, I wish the van ran on propane.

How's everyone else?

Speaking of cars, who's ordering a Tesla flying car?
 Nothing planned for again today.
But who knows what might stimulate me to do something exciting.

Have a great day everyone.

It's rainy and cool in SE NH.  Leaves are probably close to peak, at least for the maples.  The oaks always lag, but that gives us a second section to the season when the oaks change.

Wife's car should be ready today from the body shop, so that removes me from taxi duty.  She got a friend to take her from exercise club to an appointment, but I have to get her after that appointment.  And I'll go to the bank to get the check for the body shop guy. I think he'd take my regular check, but I think it's a courtesy to get a guaranteed check so he doesn't have to wait as long for it to clear.

Other than that, it'll be back to the train room for some work on the resin freight car, and maybe a second look at the cliffs I've been painting.

TomO/Tloc

Good morning. 47f now and only 51 later.

Tired from a full day yesterday. Was picked up at 7am and home at 10:15pm. 2 ops sessions that the 1st went ok but the 2nd was truly outstanding. My next Ops session was 11/14 but he blew out his NCE command station Tuesday when I was there helping and he borrowed another friend's unit. NCE will look at his but it's a possible 6-8 weeks so the next session there is cancelled. Due to family health issue concerns I cancelled all my ops session appearances but that 11/14 one.

Not sure what today will bring. Terry's procedure scheduled for this morning was cancelled at 5:45am 15 minutes after we left the house this morning. I'm hoping to nap in a few minutes!

I am skipping a 2nd diet Dr Pepper and actually heading to bed

Enjoy your day
TomO
