Thanks guys, we had a good trip. At 2.25 hours 1 way for a day trip is beyond our normal 2 hour limit but exceptions are made. This one was worth it to us.

The Enchanted Branches were definitely unique as they were all gathered from the forest floor surrounding this installation.


The photos though truly don't do these guys justice but you get the idea. The only real surprise was the gas prices. But, I know Illinois has the 2nd highest gas tax in the nation but still itbwas jarring enough I took a picture of our 1st pit stop in Shannon, Il.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Assorted cold cereals are on the counter for breakfast today.
Fresh fruits to toss in are also out.

TomO, I paid slightly more for diesel yesterday.
When will the cheaper Venezuelan oil hit the market?

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Safe travels for the last 200 and of course best wishes at the ER. I'm guessing you're pain free?

Yesterday the repair shop was as good as it's word and the van was ready at 1130. MOH left from there to go to SC. Today she and her BFF head to OH. Found another possible job for grandson to apply for today.

Today after chores I hope to get some serious workbench time as it didn't happen yesterday.

That's about it from here. Just another hot steamy day in a long line of them.

It's a sunny a little muggy, must be coming up from Florida, 71 with a high of 77 today. Hope for some more bench time and an update today. Not much else going on here. Oh ya I was able to get the insurance thing resolved after multiple call backs.

Good morning from a chilled but not chill Wisconsin. 54f degrees now heading to 78. It's overcast and gloomy looking but sunshine and clear skies are predicted for this afternoon

It's getting closer to November and the commercials on my YouTube feed now are mostly political attack ads or the latest medical prescription to cure what ails you or perform better! The political stuff though has not featured an ad for a candidate yet, they are always attack ads against either one running for governor and against one special Congressman. Usually from outside the state! I guess data centers are a huge deal this political season, one candidate is for and the other against! The Congressman seems to have hit a nerve with the Women's groups! It used to be the large transmission power lines, now it's data centers...

I try to stay away from mainstream media and the networks Terry watches but politics are the money maker for sure now on the streaming places! Oh well

Rick, safe travels. Diesel yesterday at our local Casey's was $5.97. Regular gas they had none! Yep, out! Premium was $5.09, I drove to the Kwik Trip and it was $4.09 for regular and per Gas Buddy this morning it's $4.05!

No modeling yesterday unless I count some research

I was heading by myself to a work session this morning but I woke because of a nasty headache and those because of my past health issues can be dangerous to me. Took the triptan based pills I rarely take for only (thankfully) the 2nd time this year. When they kick in I can't drive and soon I will be laying down in the darkened bedroom. Though it's migraine medicine mine are not migraines. Getting old is an adventure

Lasering yesterday was successful.  I cut some squares from wood using both XTool's software and Lightburn.  Today I might try to cut the little project I designed while waiting.  But that'll require different material (1/16 vs 1/8 wood).  So now I'm into the long learning curve about learning what settings work best on which materials.

If you think politics are bad, the ads are just gearing up for the mid-terms.  Since the Senate race here in NH is competitive, we'll get FLOODED with that crap.  There was lots of mailers etc for the House primary race, as one news commentator pointed out, "Each side is using PAC money to send out ads complaining about how the other side accepts PAC money."  (And nothing partisan about that observation, similar behavior from across the spectrum.)

Gas in MI where I am went from $3.89 to $4.39 in the time it took me to drive from home to the station.  NO WAY it actually goes up like that, it's gouging at it's worst.  Cost me $42 for a 4 gal of gas and 4 gal of diesel ($5.99) just to mow the lawn. 4 gal at a time easier to wrestle around than the 5 gal can holds.

Bench time most of the day yesterday as it was wet out. 1/2 in of rain. Needed.

Watched the opening game of the NFL season last night, youse Patriot fans must be in a coma this morning.  The LIONS open at noon Sunday.  So far they're tied for 2nd place!  Michigan State plays sometime Saturday.

Weather guy on the GRap web site was showing flocks of birds on the radar this morning, as the migration is on.  Our hummers remain, but going thru a ton of sugar water daily, they'll be gone in the next 2-3 days I'd guess. 

Speaking of migration, we'll be headed the other way next week. 

TomO, interesting figures those trolls.  Hope the day goes ok, I used to get some wild vertigo attacks that would put me in the darkest room possible for hours, once I quit the porcelain throne.  Would hit like a click of a switch.  

Well, back to the bench.

How's everyone else.

Made it home OK.
Did a load of laundry, showered and went to the ER.
Had to wait 3+ hours to get back into the ER.
Once there things moved a little quicker.
Had a CT scan to confirm the pain is from a stuck stone.
I have an appointment this morning at the urology surgery center to have stones on the left side blasted and possible the right side too where there a few smaller stones.

Got very little sleep.
Finally got out of the hospital at 5.
Went to Walmart to get two prescriptions filled.
I hadn't eaten since 6AM and was starving.
Walked across the parking lot and had a large steak filled burrito and 1 beer.
I never eat a big meal this late in the day and should have eaten only half instead of the whole thing.
I had very bad acid reflux all night. 

No eating the morning because of the procedure but fortunately I can have my coffee.
I'll have a small meal when I get home and take it easy.

It's a chilly 54 on the back porch with a high of 73. Some errands shortly then maybe some bench time. Need to do a little cleaning on the SUV this afternoon. Other than that not much going on here.

Good Luck, Rick!  Glad to hear you're not having pain, I understand kidney stones can be excruciating.  

Yesterday was spent on the laser, with some progress.  I've figured out good cut settings for 1/16 basswood.  Lightburn isn't working correctly with the laser, but XTool Studio works fine, and is sufficient for what I want to do, so I'll live with that for a while.  I'm sure the problem is with Lightburn, so I might reinstall from scratch.

Today I get my new glasses, progressive trifocals.  Reading on the bottom, computer prescription in the middle, and clear glass on top.  Having to change glasses all the time was driving me crazy!

Good Morning All,

It's been 25 years since 9-11. I was on shift (Ems) and walked into the ER waiting room just after the first plane hit and it was still being reported as a light plane. Later after the second plane I watched a convoy of OPD cars racing to OIA. My partner asked what the h*ll is going on, and I told him "we're at war now". The world has changed since then and I feel not for the better.

Started the day with a walk at 77F with high humidity. Yesterday I finished up the office I was working on and looked ahead to the next step which is the cutting shack (a mini saw mill). It should be interesting. I also lightly sanded the previously built platforms and brushed on A&I to give it a more weathered look.

Today I start on the shed and early afternoon I'm driving gs to his job interview. Not much else on the agenda.

Sure remember the day 25 yrs ago.  Watching Don Imus when there was a break in to report the first plane then saw the second...yes the world has changed.  The all too brief unity is fractured so it's so sad.
