Some of the parts in the original box weren't quite right , so Rich sent me the correct parts , because these were in an envelop without any worth on it they arrived earlier then the box because of customs and VAT.

The decal sheet, when I first saw them I thought Rich had made a mistake and sent me the H0 decals, they are quite large for an N-scale structure.

Fitting some bracing, although I don't think it needs much.(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco6.jpg&hash=cad282849728234e5ce2e4a7a5a2295a79fdab40)
Glued in place , removed most of the glue with a cotton swab I always keep at hand for this.

Peel and stick from 3M left over night so it will stick better, I find that peel and stick will stick better and better over time , have never had any come loose after building only during fixing sometimes.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco11.jpg&hash=4cf8b10e37b100903daca9bd8cc257437f45ecc0)

The kit doesn't have flooring , so I'm going to use some of my recently acquired Metcalfe cobblestones.(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco13.jpg&hash=21360b56fea714a8be7e6330cfe586deed036ff3)

Doing the windows, I like that although Rich didn't have a photo of the other side of the building he decided to do a whole row of windows instead of just a blank wall. They sure would have needed the light to work.

Do like the flooring you used. Keep up the good work.
The HO version coming soon, got busy on some other stuff.
rich
Thanks Rich , I thought cobblestones would be the right type of flooring with steel banded wheels and such.
Interesting kit Jan. I'll be following.
Neat flooring material.👍🏻
Good looking flooring Jan
Jim
Thanks Curt , Dave , Jim , your encouragement keeps me going.
I'm enjoying the ride. Nice work Jan.
Mike :)
Thanks Mike appreciate it.
The kit contains parts to make 2 wagons and spare parts , I have tried making one of these wagons before ( Rich sold them as a separate kit ) , not for me , just couldn't get a satisfying result. So I am going to use all the parts for an interior. (https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco24.jpg&hash=868c3e5b2c30a3f341df21b05ecd60aeda30a5bf)
Beams added to the interior, although not in the manual , there's enough spare wood to make these.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco25.jpg&hash=11269dad4c1513c801b5ae6e74102c0a18297b87)
Added a large carpenters table.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco26.jpg&hash=e60f99be2ebf1fe25ec15d2ecdc0a75c73005f08)
Made some shelves and trestles , different parts leaning against walls and beams.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco27.jpg&hash=74af168604b1176408322f0aa907c75a43445167)
Added little people and paint cans and other items. It's 1960 and the wee people wear company clothing. They still make some wagons for farmers and shows , but they also make parts for Amish Buggies, more on that later.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco28.jpg&hash=5dda44e5820e6e29de382b4aa26079f47b60caec)

Good enough for N-scale , it's hard enough to even look through the windows so it doesn't need more detailing.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco31.jpg&hash=3282a17b15e75921d4c6d1431fc0b7fb64d57c50)
Good use for the Wagons Jan. I still find it hard to believe that this is "N" Scale.
You do fantastic work for such a small Scale.
Jim
Really nice modeling Jan.
Nice job Jan. Anyone who can work with N scale deserves a lot of credit for doing such a fine job.
Jerry
Dang, that is looking great
rich
Wow! Great work Jan. Easy to forget that you're doing this in N Scale. :o
Thank you Jim, Curt , Jerry , Rich , Bob, means a lot to me . Still to figure out how to light this , probably with a softbox from the floor above.
Just catching up Jan. Great job on the building and as you know, I am a sucker for anything with an interior, but Wow! That is looking good.
Going to light the interior?
Either way, did I say wow!
Thank you Darryl , yes it will be lighted , and I have to dull down the little people and maybe add some more cans , boxes and odd bits.
I'm a little late on this one Jan.....I'll be looking in, neat kit. :)
Thanks Greg , glad to have you along
Jan, a good looking building and the cobblestones were an inspired touch. Nice work!
--George
Thank you George
Although I had to work till 21:00 , I found some time to do some modeling.
I wanted lighting in the structure , but not direct LED's , I wanted a box that would give some overall lighting without being to bright, so I cut out a part of the floor above.(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco32.jpg&hash=441fc7f64c65da0f92aaf0b34bbe431db428b3c5)
Cut off a piece of thin milky white styrene.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco33.jpg&hash=40c7df5a77f0d7ee5fd5da9b7863a457866e49dd)
Made a box with the cut out floor and some styrene. Stuck 3 LED's in a row to the box.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco34.jpg&hash=b20800ee12ac1579af8891df30a81f1e70097bec)
Glued the box to the somewhat larger piece of styrene.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco35.jpg&hash=672956415807d701c067baa5f962affb5863b393)
Glued that to the floor with the hole in it.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco36.jpg&hash=268aec4a8dc63f97c8b2212577fd3906a297d3c3)
And tested if the lighting was what I wanted , and I think it's exactly what I had in mind.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco37.jpg&hash=d59b01c9ea9aeff46dee602186069885cbeeb4f5)

Very nice Jan.
Thanks Curt
I continue to be amazed..........are you sure this is "N" Scale ?
Jim
Jan
the lighting level looks real life. Floor is great, nice touch with the wagon parts and love the little people. I can't keep my eyes focused in HO scale, no idea how you make it so real in N gauge but sure like it.
Jim D
Thanks again Jim and Jim , I do need special made reading glasses to work on modeling with , and a lot of patience ;)
Very nice work Jan.
Mike :)
Dang Jan the lighting turned out great.
rich
Hey Jan:
I'm following along. Looks great so far.
Karl
Thanks Mike , Rich , Karl, appreciate it.
Jan,
Ditto to all the other comments. Great job on the interior and lighting. Well done my friend.
Tom ;D
Thank you oh so much Tom.
Next was assembling the posts of the porch, cut them from scale wood provided in the kit along with a small jig for the size.

Then it was time to assemble the Peel & Stick outer walls , everything fits perfect so this was an easy task.

Next up the roof , and a mistake I made.
Beautiful modeling Jan.
Jan:
WOW really fine modeling. Love all those signs.
Karl
Great idea with the lighting
Thank you Curt , Karl , Chris , Rich did well on the signs , besides the porch they are what make this structure stand out. They are decals , and until I sprayed them with Dullcote you could see they were decals , now it's only visible on the photo's because they still reflect a tiny bit , but not visible to the eye.
So on with the roofing. There are printed corrugated roof sheets in the kit , each is a single piece so you put them on using transfer tape .
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco46.jpg&hash=42113d0484d8aa99659420e7583fa538c5fb3138)
So I did the larger piece first and thought that had to be made to size to fit through the slit in the wall on one side , which has been done here. That was my mistake.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco47.jpg&hash=02c98a819e53c07e7cdadcc3a530dd79465993d7)
While fitting the smaller piece of roof base I found out that this wasn't large enough, and after looking in the box more seriously I found a small strip of roof with slots in it . Oooops , the smaller piece of roof and the strip together should have made the roof that goes through the wall.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco48.jpg&hash=ba3cb75c52a5a01896ea3279ba817d7b0c9e19f4)
I had already cut away the little beams in the slit of the wall , so I decided to just leave that roof as I had done it and make a new piece of roof for the other side . Here you can see me doing the last row of corrugated roofing on the piece of cardboard I used.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco49.jpg&hash=b6034f5740aaea6653593f97488f36c9da7ef9a6)
I then brightened down the printed paper as I had done with the Regal Cinema , used artists markers in various tones to blend and tone down . Later I will be using pastel chalks to even further brighten it down. I then glued the roof pieces in place.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco50.jpg&hash=953e6435eabbe48fcbcd2e87b7e65f501a8659a7)
Here is the roof before finishing it with a cap , you can see that I used moss green markers to simulate moss and fungus on the roof.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco51.jpg&hash=f8945ee7143bab3585b30f0bf4c5a243e708b1dd)
This is the other side it's a bit darker because the sun shines on the other side.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco52.jpg&hash=e8efc0684a0e17513111d141e6b3e1607465883d)
Roof cap on , next is trimming.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco53.jpg&hash=07be05d3e5cf544822003782403cd4f060723391)
Your doing a great job Jan. I really like how it's coming along.
rich
Thanks Rich , it's a great kit , of an awesome building, someone with a modern layout could easily use it as a museum or such.
Nice work Jan. ;) Mike
Thanks Mike
A thought: If you went over the decal very lightly with white/light grey weathering chalk, it would fade the sign a bit and also work the decal more into the wood. Since you've coated this already, it would be easy to wipe off the chalk (or Pan Pastel) if you didn't like the effect.

Thanks Dave , I have a part of the building that will not be in sight on my layout , I will try it on that part. But that's going to wait until tomorrow , bed time here in The Netherlands
Really nice Jan. I really like the roof.
Very nice work on this kit, Jan. Lots of nice touches with the signs, the roof and the floors.
--George
Thanks Curt and George, now that I'm almost done I had a look to where I would put it on the layout, I thought I had plenty of room but now I find the place I had in mind is too small , looks like I have to puzzle a bit.
Assembled trim, then painted it.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco54.jpg&hash=3d709086ea472906ce84d3471b6c492bb88cf18e)
Then assembled the cupola's, I glue on the cornerposts first , leaving them a bit too long.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco55.jpg&hash=e688430a2542f2f91d3ebe5502981c74f5b1b02a)
Then when dry I cut off the excess post.

To glue them onto the roof I use a mix of white glue and black acrylic paint.

I put the mix on abundantly.

So that when i press the cupola on the roof it gets the tar lining I want.

Both cupola's on the roof.

Then I toned down the sides a bit using light gray pastel chalk, as suggested , this is before.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjanbouli.com%2Fimages%2Fgebouwen%2Frswagco%2Frswagco64.jpg&hash=43fb6a29c36e6e079614b2ffd0a01f8f76b4f227)
And this is after, when I look at the photo's I think before looked better , but that's the photo, to the eye the after looks better.

The spot I had in mind to place the structure turned out to be too small, now I am going to place it here in Clay Center.

Looks good, both the structure and the location.

Jan
Really nice work! I like the structure and site you have picked. Well done.
Nice job Jan
Really nice modeling Jan. It will be a great addition to your layout.
That is a great model. Turned out very very well. Looks like you chose a great location across the tracks from the other "A+" models!!!
Thanks Dave , John , NKP, Curt , appreciate it.

Thanks Darryl , yes it is one of the A+ spots on my layout , when I finish this part of town remember me to send you some photo's of the Interaction lineup ;D
Looking great Jan. Have the HO version about ready, but have been down with a bad cold. Will luck hope next week I can cut and test build one. This was a fun building to do for sure.

A great kit , fits perfect ( if you follow the directions ;) ), is different , fun to build , a great addition to the N-scale hobby.
Beautiful work all around....the Kit and the location.
Will be glad to see the HO version (yours is just too small for my old eyes).
Thanks for the great Build Thread.
Jim
this project turned out really great looking!
Thank you Steve and Jim , and you're very welcome . I too am waiting for the H0 version, although I'm not sure if I want yet another kit on my H0 layout exactly the same as on my N-scale layout, but the kit is very unique and a lot of fun to build.
Now Rich has to do this structure that I have wanted to do for years ;) , first photo of how it looked before they started restoration, second what it looks like in restoration.

What a great building - so much character. Definitely like the pre-restoration version better.
Now, that's a barn..... 8)
HO layout Jan??? What did I miss.....I thought you only an N scale guy..... I thought I had been paying attention. ::)
WOW Jan, what a barn might just have to do that one. Another one that will be big as hard to compress it without losing it the feel and look. Send me any info you have on it and will see what happens.
rich
Not Jan, but this should give a body a start - https://www.nps.gov/nr/feature/places/pdfs/14000828.pdf
Wow , Bob , thank you oh so much, I love this building so much that I even donated to the restoration funds.
Rich I think if you got in touch with the owners/restorers they would maybe even have a blueprint and surely enough photo's , maybe for a small contribution per kit you sold , something like that.

Thanks for posting that link Bob.....that was one profitable farm in its day.....loved the draft horses. 8)
With a bit of money and a little TLC, that house, barn and other outbuildings could be restored and look wonderful. Definitely worth the effort. :)
