Even Jaime's been sucked into Never-Never Land - over on the other forum
(said lightly - I still enjoy it) , he
said "By the way, I have not weathered the roofs yet. I suspect that comes later in the instructions."
Never would I had taken him as such a
WUSS!!Instuctions, Instructions - what the heck is that??
I thought that was what my wife gives me!!! ;D ;D
But, I do pay careful attention to those!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Hi guys:
thanks for the kind words I think. I figured out the main walls. Here's a photo of them unpainted.
Karl
Hi All:
I'm working on the long walls and hope to make more progress today.
Karl
Hi All:
Still working on the main walls.
Karl
Hi All:
Have one more wall to finish putting shades in the windows. Hopefully pics of unassembled finished walls today.
Karl
Hi All:
Finally got the main walls done. Here's a photo of the not assembled walls. Assembly is next. Let me know what you think OK
Karl
Hi All:
The main walls are finally finished. Let me know how you think they came out ok.
Karl
Karl,
Looking good, very good.
Tom ;D
Hi Tom:
thanks appreciate your comment.
Karl
Hi All:
Got some more work done. All the roofs, and trim are on the main building. Also chimney is added. I put gravel roofs on my flat roofs instead of rolled roofing.
Hope you like it so far.
Karl
Looks good...I like the Purina sign...
Alan
Looking good Karl!
👍👍👍
Hi Next CEO, John and Dave K:
Thanks for the compliments.
Karl
Karl,
Very nice work. Gardiner Tack is on my list to build. Looks like it will be something different. I have a question for you on a kit that I am building (Bernard Tractor). After seeing your gravel roof on the Gardiner structure how would do you think gravel would look on the main roof of Bernard. Can you also tell me what material you used to do the gravel roof.

Hi Mike:
I built Bernsard's Tractor and also put a gravel roof on it. I use Highball Real dirt strained through a fine sive. The glue is from a small can of Rustoleum black paint. If i can find my photos I'll post one.
Thanks for you compliments.
Karl
Karl,
Yes, I do like it so far. Very well done as always.
Tom ;D
Hi Tom And Al:
thanks Tom. Here's the latest photos. Got a lot done.
Karl
Karl,
Gardiner came out great. Love the gravel roof. I get bored with all roofs done with tar paper.
Let's bring back shingles & gravel. I also love the look of clean painted buildings. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy that Malcolm Furlow taught to model (run down with a little lean to it

Looks great Karl. Another interesting design by Fos and great color selections as well!
John
Karl,
I was intrigued when I saw this kit on Doug's website. I love all the interesting rooflines and the way it looks like the building grew naturally over time. You are doing your usual awesome build, I love the way the roof came together with the billboard, roof access building, and the varied types of roofing.
Hi Mike, John & Jerry:
thanks for the kind words. Here's a few progress photos. Installed roof on main building and am working on wall #3.
Karl
Lookin' good, Karl. 👍
Looks great Karl! I like the colors. Everything blends together very nicely. :D
Hi Dave K.
Thanks For the compliment.
Karl
Hi Bob:
Thanks. I always appreciate your input.

Hi Guys:
Got The front wall of the left end addition done last night. Will post a photo sometime today as I would like opinions on how it looks. It painted Floquil Rail Brown dry-brushed with silver. Windows & doors are reefer white. This is a time consuming fun to build kit.
Karl
Hi All:
Ok here's a photo of the finished front wall #3. Let know if it looks ok.
Karl
Like it - old and worn out!!
Hi David:
Thanks appreciate it.

Ditto Karl, looking fantastic.
Tom ;D
Nicely weathered wall, Karl.
Jeff
Karl, On wall # 3 will there not be any rust or does the photo not show it. If no rust can you please share what you used to make the gray color. I do like the look of a wall without it looking rusted out

Hi All You guys that posted:
Got a lot of work done today. Hope to post a photo or 2 tonight.
Karl
Hi Mike:
Corrugated is painted with rail brown and dry-brushed with Silver.
Karl
Hi All:
The left end addition is finished except for roof details. I made some changes. I liked the board by board construction so much that I made most of my walls that way instead of corrugated siding. Hope you like em. Here's photos.
I found this to be the most time consuming part of the kit so far.
Karl
I like the board on board walls and the red rolled roofing sets off the wood tones perfectly!
Hi David:
Thanks appreciate your comment.
Karl
Karl
Looks good to me!
I agree with you on the board on board construction, I'm starting to use it for the fronts of my up front structures and then using the laser cut walls for the sides and back. The plan is to use all the left over fronts for a town that is in the back of the layout.
Karl,
The new changes are starting to make the kit have your look & not so much Fos (not that Fos look is bad) I just remember Karl O saying it does not hurt to make changes to a kit. After all it is your kit
Please advise what color or stain did you use for the board by board construction
ALSO
what color did you use for the red roll roofing
Mike Sigmon
Jacksonville, FL
Hi Mike:
The board by board is A&I stain. The red roofing is Krylon Colormaster Primer red oxide from Wallmart. It's ultra flat.
Karl
Hi John:
Thanks fro the reply. Appreciate it.
Karl
Very cool build. You have build a real winner.
Bob
Hi Bob:
Thanks much. Appreciate your comment.
Karl
Hi All:
Here's the latest project kit photos.
Karl
Hi All:
Just finished up the loading platform. Have to add the ramp yet. All parts fit and went together very well. Added casting and figures.
Karl
Karl,
Gardiner came out very nice & clean. Will you be doing a diorama showing horses & fencing or should I just wait & see
Thank you for sharing your work with us

Hi Mike:
It's not quite finished yet. Diorama? Probably not as the person I give my models to would rather have them witout the diorama as it makes them easier to install on the layout. I finished up the castings last night. All I have left is the shelter on the right side of the front wall.
Karl
Hi All:
Well guys I finished my model. I feel this is one of Doug's best design of an individual kit. I took me a while to build it as it is rather complicated. It's about 15 inches long and about 4 1/2 inches wide at it's widest point. It has lots of walls and roofs and detailed construction. If want to have A fun build that while take some this is it. Also Did not put into a diorama as the friend I give them to would rather have them loose as it is easier for him to put them into the layout.
Here's final photos.
As always Karl, great job on the kit.
Hi Dustin:
Thanks much appreciate it.
Karl
Nicely done, Karl. Per usual. :)
Jeff
Hi Jeff:
Thanks Jeff appreciate the comment.
Karl
Another great job from a builder I have used as a reference a long time. Thanks for sharing :)
Magnus
Ditto what Magnus said. 👍
Very well done Karl.....your friend will have a great new scene for his empire. 8)
Karl,
Came out looking great.
What up next on your list
are you going to build Fos Scale Metzger Building
