Has anyone been using D pin connectors from their control panel to bench work?
I be got a bunch of them. I thought it would be easier to keep the panels detachable from the layout for repair or changes.

I have one control panel that's hinged at the bottom.  That's made it convenient to make a few wiring changes over the years. This photo shows me attaching the hinge blocks.

My most complex panel demounts with enough slack in the wires so I can sit in a chair with it on my knees to work on it.

My work experience with 25-pin connectors (computers, most often printers) is if they aren't screwed together when in service, they will work loose. You'll learn that the first step in debugging is to push all the connectors down on their sockets.  Which doesn't rule them out, of course.

Thanks, Greg.  The rectangle of dark-colored hardware lower left corner of the bottom photo is old Telco key switches.
