Morning all,

Sunny and headed to 88 degrees today.  I'll get a walk in later this morning.  Skipped yesterday, but I did get the lawn mowed and was plenty hot after the four block round trip to the drug store.

The backdrops arrived and the first is unrolled and flat on the floor with books on the edges to help it flatten out.  Hope to get a couple of them installed today.

Good Morning Jeff and all who follow;

Made progress on current project yesterday, hope to do a little more today. The rain arrived last night which we sure can use and temps today are going to be a repeat of yesterday, mid 90's so I better get my walk in this morning.

Off for coffee, have a great day.

Morning all,

School's out so my better half is off for the summer. There go my quiet days at home.  :P

Just sitting here printing out the information for our upcoming trip to Europe which is a little over a week away. We'll spend two nights in Lucerne, Switzerland, prior to boarding the ship in Basel. From there we'll travel the Rhine & Main rivers until we end up in Nuremburg, Germany. Should be fun! I hope my back and hips play nice.

I'm almost finished a little build and pondering what to build next. I have several FOS kits in mind along with one Seaport kit. Decisions, decisions!

Have a great one!

Good evening, all. Another mostly pleasant day at Seashore: Rain forecast yesterday ended up as a couple of light showers that blew past quickly. A small crew made progress on the double slip switch, while our Speed Swing operator mounted the big magnet and swept up bits and pieces left by the excavator-mounted scrap shear. Late in the day I changed the Speed Swing over to our hydraulic tie grapple and picked up a few of the old ties removed by the contractor last week.

Pettibone 441-B Speed Swing built 1974 as Metropolitan Boston Transit Authority #4307. Taken 7 years ago to the month, it's up on Hi-Rail carrying a new tie to a small-scale replacement project. It sits higher above the rail than RR-owned Speed Swings; the MBTA ordered it with trolley back-to-back distance Hi-Rail wheels and set high enough to clear their subway 3rd rail.

We had a trip to Switzerland 30 years ago.  Our favorite city was Bern, but we also enjoyed Basel a lot.  The Basel accent was nearly unintelligible to my poor schoolboy German.  No bargains in Switzerland, except a Swissrail pass.  Be sure to watch/rewatch "The Eiger Sanction" at some point, spectacular scenes of the Swiss Alps.

Our 2024 trip included almost a week on the Rhine above Basel. The nicest view we got on our day trip to Lucerne was from the old city walls, but we got there by walking up from the river bridge area and there were lots of stairs.  A much broader view is available by riding up to Mt. Pilatus on their cog railway.
