Morning everybody. Looks like we might get some rain here this morning on the Merrimack. Yesterday  was spent going through and looking through  bins of stuff I accumulated over the years. Also spent about an hour on the phone with Bruce from Seaport Model Works. He is in the process of moving to North Carolina.  The business is running out of a storage unit till his new shop is finished and won't be up and running till the end of the month. I purchased this Artitec kit of a Marine railway recently and it arrived yesterday.  This will be the kit I'll combine with the Gruber Glass kit. The base, crane, and a few othe pieces I'll use. The buildings I won't. I want to make it look more New Englandy seaport. Onward and upward..

Morning all,

Interesting kit, Raymo.  They included the Humbrol paint numbers on the box.  I sometimes have trouble picking colors for buildings, so that would help me out. 

It's supposed to rain on and off all day with a high of 78.  It's been so humid the last few days all the windows have condensation on the outside. 

A trip to Target (to get something I forgot a few days ago) and the grocery store on on tap for the day.

In the background of this pic is the control tower for the Oshkosh airport.  For airshow week it's the busiest in the world.

They need a model train equivalent of Oshkosh.

All this talk about dump trucks in raised positions the last couple of weeks somehow produced a photo of such a prototype in my files. How it got there I have no idea. Truly, I'm baffled. Nevertheless, judge from this old photo the raised position is quite precarious and somewhat dangerous.

Dense fog this morning, could barely see the back yard, it's clearing now, 0935, but the humids have remained.  Windows sweating like Jeff mentioned.  Chance of rain exists all weekend.

Most likely bench today, unless...

Jeff, I use stick on tire weights from eBay for weight in kits.

A-line sells a dozen for $20. These  use are in bulk, several hundred for $28 free shipping. Likely packaging may be different. I've had these for several years.

Karl, thanks for the link to bulk weights.  Have you had any problems with the adhesive giving way inside of a boxcar?

Jeff, I think that's an early model Apache, pre-Longbow.  But then, I haven't kept up with model differences on Army helicopters.  (Longbows had that signature blob on top of the rotor head to hold the radars, etc.  Maybe they'e shrunk that in later versions.)

Dave, I've don't remember any problems with weight coming undone. They are made for high speed rpms on road tires. You do have to ensure they are firmly mounted in place. They've worked for me.

Just got back from the post office. Two of the shelf orphans have been adopted and are now on their way to their new owners. They should arrive on Monday.

No workbench time today, I'm afraid. Hopefully tomorrow.
