I stopped by the Bar Mills booth again to see if I could shoot a few pictures of the new super kit without the plexiglass cover on. Turns out Art couldn't remove it and recalled that they had a heck of a time wedging the diorama in there before they brought it out. Might have a heck of a time getting it out when they get back to the shop.

In its place, Art sent me one of the pics he took before they covered it up:

Remember, the big boat you see is not included but the little rowboat you see in the lower right is included. Also, the diorama ends at the stone wall so that lighthouse and other buildings you see in the background are not included.

The kit is very striking in person.

If you're wondering, no, I'm not affiliated with Bar Mills and am not compensated for being their newest fanboy. However, I did get a Bar Mills badge with my name on it today from Art and Jack. Apparently, I'm their new VP in charge of being a PITA.

I did take a few of my own pics thru the cover. I'll pull them off my phone when I get home and post them if they're any good. In the meantime, you'll see the real stuff later next week on barmillsmoose.com as I mentioned before.

Cheers.

Thanks for the running commentary on the convention - I'm really enjoying following along!

That new kit from Bar Mills is a real winner!  I'm sure it will sell out in record time.  I took some good photos of the original back in 2015 - its always been a favourite.  Have fun spending all your hard earned cash - I am a little jealous!  Any $16 FSM kit purchases yet?

Cheers, Mark.

Jaimie,

Did you get any pictures of the new O scale kits from Bar Mills that debuted at the show?  Did you get any pics of the Sierra West kits?  Does anyone know if Brett had the new O scale Railroad Camp part#2?

Jaime, thanks for the photos!  It's the next best thing to being there (but a poor substitute :-) )

Safe travels home, everyone!

Back home in Chicago, safe and sound. I had a very good time time at the convention. Was great to meet a few of the forum names in person. I didn't know what to expect as this was my first convention of any kind, but I was pleasantly surprised at the clinics and all the great stuff to look at -- including the vendor exhibit. Sue (my wife) and I even had a chance to do some non-railroad activities (site-seeing, hiking, driving home along the Mississippi) so she enjoyed it, too.

Hats off to Mike Engler and all of the activity chairs for a very well managed event. And thanks to all you forum members for reaching out to say hello to me. Hopefully this will help me engage in some more direct interactions with some additional forum members.

Don't let this pic fool you...we actually had a great time  :) . Thanks to all involved with a show. I had a great time and I'm excited to get to work on my layout. Thanks especially to John S. for driving me around to all the layouts.
