Thanks Tom for the quick and easy tutorial, now if only we could get our hands on 30 year old Water Putty  ;)

When I saw the photo of the can I was thinking, now there's a fine example of retro look products .

Jan,

You are welcome and yes it does look retro doesn't it?

By the way, Durham's is still packaged in the same container as the one I showed.

If you can't find any up your way, let me know. I'll be happy to send you a baggie full.

Great tutorial Tom.
I'm never be able to make stastisfying stucco with putty. It'S the reason why I devellop my own technic with liquitex light modeling paste. But I will make an other try following your instruction.
Thanks.

So, that's how you are supposed to do it.  I shall attempt to copy the Master if I ever need to Stucco a Model Building.

Very good tutorial my friend.

Great tutorial.  Pretty much the same process I use with one minor difference.  Rather than dampen the wall with water I smear a thin layer of Elmer's glue over the section I'm about to do to give it some bite.  Otherwise it's identical.

The key is finding the right consistency when prepping the water putty.  Heavy cream like comes to mind.  Slightly thinner then that works too but it takes a little longer to set up.  Thicker and it sets up too fast.

Great job!

Thanks for the tutorial Tom.  I'll have to get some of the putty and give it a trial test run.  I've got 1 or 2 buildings that need stucco, and your method seems to be, well, Easy Peasy!

Thank you, Tom. I appreciate the time you took to detail the technique so nicely. My can of Durham's is not thirty years old--perhaps three--but looks exactly like that. They have not changed the label in decades. Got it at a local big box hardware store--cheap, too.

Eric,

Thanks for stopping by and posting your comment. I'll have to give the Liquitex method a try. Looks like both methods are good to go.

Bob,

I appreciate the support Butty. The putty consistency is the key as well. I'll have to try the glue method on the net one I do. I think I like the idea of glue better than the plain water.
