I'm out of surgery now and doing well. In about a week I'll be back to normal — just in time for the F&SM open day!

Bob, I started with one tree--a gift from my Italian-American father-in-law, about 35 years ago. He pins low branches to the ground and they root where they touch.  He got his trees from rootstock that his father brought over from Italy more than 100 years ago.

Now I have ten very vigorous trees in three separate mounds.  I cut them back to about 4-5 feet each year and cover the mounds with as many leaves as I can in the fall. I used to cover them with tarps as well, but central PA winters aren't as cold as they used to be.
